Asus Zenfone 8 Series is set to launch globally on May 12 that is tomorrow. Recently, the Asus Zenfone 8 Pro also bagged the BIS certification in India suggesting the imminent launch. But as notified by the company’s head it has deferred the India launch till the present condition in India, due to rising cases of Coronavirus, improves. Although the global launch scheduled for tomorrow remains unchanged.
Dinesh Sharma, Business Head, Commercial PC and Smartphone, System Business Group, Asus India took to Twitter to notify that, “While the world is excited for the launch of our new smartphone, we at ASUS India have consciously decided to defer the launch till the current scenario improves. Our thoughts n prayers are with those affected with Covid #stayhomestaysafe, n emerge stronger! #IndiaFightsCOVID19”
The Global launch of the Asus Zenfone 8 Series is scheduled to happen on May 12. Recently, it was tipped to launch two phones — Asus ZenFone 8 and Asus ZenFone 8 Flip. As per the tipster Mukul Sharma, Asus Zenfone 8 which is also known as Mini will run ZenUI 8 based on Android 11. In addition to this, it will feature a 5.9-inch full-HD+ Samsung E4 AMOLED display. The screen will come protected with Gorilla Glass and will be offering 120Hz refresh rate support. Under the hood, it is likely to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
In terms of cameras, the Asus ZenFone 8(mini) will not include any swivel mechanism. There will be a triple rear camera set up that is expected to include a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary lens, a secondary 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and another macro lens. The rear camera set up will support EIS, 8K video recording, and 4K slow-motion @ 120fps. On the front, it is suggested to sport a 12-megapixel selfie camera.
As per the tipster the device is expected to have 5G support, Bluetooth v5.2, Wi-Fi 6, FM Radio, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack as connectivity options.
In addition to this, there will be a 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. There will be dual speakers with support for Nokia’s OZO audio technology and a Hi-Fi audio playback as well as a linear vibration motor.
On the other hand Asus Zenfone 8 Flip was previously tipped to feature a flip camera that swivels. The swivel camera will flip 180 degrees to the top for taking selfies in addition to an edge-to-edge display with no hole-punch cutout or notch. The device will reportedly available in two colour options and a power button coloured in Blue.
Moreover, it is said to feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is expected to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The phone is most likely to pack a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support.
As per the report, Asus Zenfone 8 Flip will board three sensors inside the motorised camera module that is a 64-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor and a 12-megapixel macro shooter. Apart from this, the cameras are also expected to support 8K video recording.
