I/O 2025, Google’s next tech event, will take place in Mountain View, California, from May 20 to 21. The event will unveil new products and app software updates. The keynote address by CEO Sundar Pichai will kick off the event, which will thereafter be live-streamed and feature product demonstrations. With a blog post geared towards developers, Google is getting ready for fresh Gemini releases and Android 16 updates. The announcement contains upgrades for cloud, web, AI, Android, and other platforms. NotebookLM, Google AI Studio, Gemma, and Google’s open-source methodology are all featured on the conference homepage.
Google’s annual I/O developer conference has been confirmed to be held on May 20 and 21. In keeping with custom, the business used its yearly “Save the date” puzzle to spread the word. Like last year, the event lasts for two days. CEO Sundar Pichai will give the opening keynote address at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California before a developer keynote and on-demand technical workshops take place. Shoreline will also be the location of Google’s live streaming of developer product keynotes.

“We’ll start day one with keynotes, followed by sessions, demos, networking opportunities and more continuing on day two. Register now and check out last year’s announcements from I/O 2024 for a refresher.”
During its keynote, Google will reveal new features in Android 16. Recently, the company updated Google Pixel devices running Android 16 Beta 1 to include a Live Updates feature that displays the status of ongoing tasks, much to Apple’s Live Activities feature. Furthermore, while utilising the three-button navigation option, Android 16 adds predictive back animation to the back button.
As you may remember, Google Workspace debuted additional Gemini features last year, such as Gemini 1.5 Pro, enhanced mobile Gmail functionality, and more language support for Help Me Write in Docs and Gmail.
The same is anticipated this year as well; it is concentrating on its in-house AI chatbot, Gemini, which is scheduled to launch a new Gemini 2.0 AI model. Additionally, the company intends to release new versions of NotebookLM, open-source Gemma models, and Google AI Studio.
