Google enabled Snooze Notifications and Delete for Everyone features for the Messages app

Earlier this month, the tech giant also added customisation to RCS group chats, enabling users to give the chat a distinctive name and a custom icon.

Google has added additional functionality to its Messages app, such as the ability to delete text messages for all participants in RCS chats and snooze notifications. Stable users can now access these functionalities widely. Nevertheless, erased texts can still be visible to users of previous software versions. RCS chats are the only ones with the “Delete for everyone” option.

Delete for everyone is a new function recently added to Google Messages. It was originally made available in February. After initially being made available to beta testers, the feature has since gained widespread user adoption.

There are now two ways to remove texts from the Google Messages app: Delete for everyone and Delete for me. Although it is restricted to RCS chats and cannot be removed for all users, the former deletes messages from the devices of both the sender and the recipient. A new feature on the chat screen that displays contacts with RCS enabled may allow messages to remain viewable on previous versions of the app.

This month, Google Messages added customisation to RCS group chats, enabling users to give the chat a distinctive name and custom icon. Additionally, users can mute notifications on particular group conversations for a certain period of time and check whether those in their contact list have RCS enabled. This feature will improve the user experience and set apart group chats.

Besides this, Google’s video streaming platform YouTube plans to integrate Google’s Veo 3 AI model into Shorts this summer, enhancing video quality and incorporating native audio generation, a move that can be seen in Canva’s ‘Create a Video Clip’ feature. The technology will enable users to create AI-generated backgrounds and video clips, enhancing prompt adherence and physics realism. The move was announced at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2025.

Last month, Google announced the newest model: Veo 3, which vastly improves video quality and incorporates audio. It is now being extended to YouTube Shorts later this summer, offering new creative opportunities. In a blog post, CEO Neal Mohan said that Veo 3 will be available on YouTube Shorts later this summer.

The platform will integrate Google DeepMind’s Veo 3 video generation model, which will improve the quality of generated videos and support audio. The AI tools, such as Dream Screen and Auto Dubbing, have already helped YouTube expand its reach to over 20 million videos since their introduction six months ago. The company plans to introduce the Veo 3 model this summer, although there is no specific timeline for its arrival.
