Google rolled out October Pixel Drop for Pixel phones and more devices

Google’s October Pixel Drop is here, and the rollout has begun for the Pixel 6 to the most recent Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The update also includes other Google devices such as the Pixel Watch and Buds TWS headphones.

Google’s October Pixel Drop brings new features and upgrades to Pixel phones, tablets, and watches. The update includes the Android 15 rollout and is compatible with devices ranging from the Pixel 6 to the newest Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Some new features are exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, while others are available on certain devices, languages, and regions. It’s worth noting that services like Gemini Live are only available on specific devices, languages, and regions.

The company announced a blog post which says, “Today’s Pixel Drop brings AI-powered helpfulness expansions, camera improvements, new safety features and more to Pixel phones, tablets and watches. In addition to the features below, Android 15 starts rolling out today.”

October Pixel Drop for Pixel Phones

Gemini now allows users to locate saved screenshots in Pixel Screenshots from any location on their phone by long-pressing power and ask Gemini to for the product you are looking for, which will take you to the requested screenshot.

The Audio Magic Eraser app now supports editing for Pixel 8 and new phones, allowing users to modify the level of certain sounds and separate voices, minimise annoying noise and ensure clean audio in videos.

Thanks to better underwater photography and video recording that renders colours richer and more realistic, you can now use any waterproof case to capture your favourite underwater moments, such as snorkelling or swimming.

Pixel’s Night Sight function has been improved to make it simpler to take breathtaking shots of stars. Users may activate the function by touching the Night Sight icon, then sliding to Astro and hitting the shutter button. This allows individuals to point their phone at the sky for 5 seconds and capture spectacular photographs such as the recent Aurora Borealis in the United States.

Night Sight for Instagram now allows you to snap sharp, true-to-life nighttime and low-light photos without using a flash – all within the Instagram app.

The Thermometer app for the Pixel 8 Pro now allows users to properly detect temperature with their camera, offering live readings on various surfaces and recording data for future reference.

The Pixel Weather app now includes a pollen tracker to assist users monitor pollen index levels, kinds, and forecasts for seasonal allergies. The app is also coming to more Pixel phones, with new features including AQI and humidity levels.

The Pixel phone now allows for easier home screen customisation by long-pressing it, with recommendations for widget categories such as Social or Entertainment, as well as previews of their appearance on the screen.

Call Screen in the UK and Japan is being upgraded with a more human-sounding voice, enabling real-time discussion with callers, as well as better answers for UK customers, allowing them to respond to appointments and bookings without answering the phone.
You may now utilise Remote Lock to quickly lock your phone using your phone number and a brief security challenge, giving you extra time to recover your accounts.

October Pixel Drop for Pixel Buds

Google has introduced Gemini to all Pixel Buds models, allowing users to utilise Gemini Live to get directions, send emails, and discuss ideas. The service is currently free for all Pixel users and is being expanded to include more languages such as German and Portuguese. Users may initiate discussions by stating, “Hey Google, let’s talk,” and Gemini Live is now widely available for free.

October Pixel Drop for Pixel Watch

The individual contact tile on all three versions of Pixel Watch allows users to access their favourite, most frequent contacts instantly, show them prominently, and perform rapid actions to call, message, or open the contact for additional information.

Pixel Watch 3 owners may now send and read emoji responses to Gmail alerts and the Gmail app directly from their device.

The Pixel Watch 3 now has a Loss of Pulse Detection. This first-to-market function identifies abrupt heartbeats caused by conditions such as cardiac arrest, poisoning, or respiratory arrest and alerts users to summon emergency services. The functionality is currently accessible in Belgium, Italy, and Spain.

October Pixel Drop for Tablets

The new casting capability will soon enable simple media transfer from a Pixel Tablet to a Pixel Phone. Simply bring your phone close to your tablet, and your Spotify or YouTube audio will transfer automatically without the need to hit the cast icon.

Pixel phones and tablets now work together to simplify notification handling. Dismissing a notice on one device removes it from all other devices. To use this function, activate it in the settings and connect to Wi-Fi.

The home panel screensaver lets users easily access smart home device controls and camera feeds when the tablet is idle and charging.

You can now share photographs directly from the digital photo frame and choose from a variety of elegant new clock styles to suit your unique taste.
