Humane, founded by former Apple employees Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, stated that the AI Pin itself, the magnetic Battery Booster, and the charging pad remain unaffected. The company has already disqualified the problematic vendor and is actively seeking a new supplier to avoid future issues.
In an email sent to users, Humane urged an immediate halt to the use of the AI Charging Case. The email explained:
“Out of an abundance of caution, we are reaching out today to ask that you immediately stop using and charging your Charge Case Accessory due to an issue with certain battery cells for the Charge Case Accessory.”
The investigation determined that the battery cells in question no longer met Humane’s quality standards and posed a potential fire risk. Humane emphasized that the issue is isolated to the specific battery cells and does not affect the overall hardware design of the Charge Case Accessory.
To compensate for the inconvenience, Humane is offering two free months of its subscription service, essential for most of the AI Pin’s functionality. However, the company has not yet disclosed whether it will provide a replacement charging case.

This news comes at a challenging time for Humane, as Bloomberg reports that the company is exploring potential buyers for its business, with a valuation target between $750 million and $1 billion. The debut of the $699 AI Pin has faced criticism over slow device responses, complicating the sales process.
Humane has pledged to maintain high safety standards and continues to reassure customers that the AI Pin and other related accessories are safe for use. The company plans to share further details upon concluding its investigation.
For now, Humane advises all AI Pin users to cease using the affected charging cases and await further instructions. The company has not yet posted information regarding this issue on its website or social media platforms.
