If the user has linked their Facebook account to their Instagram account then their birthdate will automatically be added to their account according to the one mentioned on the Facebook profile.
Instagram said, “This is not public information and only you will be able to see it when viewing your own account information on Instagram. Editing your date of birth on Facebook will also change it on Instagram. If you don’t have a Facebook account or if you have not connected your accounts, you can add or edit your birthday directly on Instagram.”
As per Instagram, it will soon be using the user’s birthdate information to create more personalised experiences like education around account controls as well as recommended privacy settings for young people.
Besides this, now the users will also be able to control who can send them direct messages on Instagram. Today onwards, you can allow or disallow people you follow message as well as add you to group threads. After enabling this setting, the users will no longer receive any messages, group message requests or story replies from the people they are not following.
