The T830 platform for 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) routers and mobile hotspot customer-premise equipment (CPE) was added to MediaTek’s 5G portfolio. Because the T830 is equipped with MediaTek’s M80 modem, which enables enhanced Release 16 capabilities for sub-6GHz band operations, the platform is perfect for 5G networks all around the world.
According to MediaTek, the highly integrated, small T830 device offers significant power savings, as well as quicker and less expensive product development. The T830 enables operators to deliver 5G speeds up to 7Gbps utilising sub-6GHz cellular infrastructure right out of the box, saving money on wireline technologies like cable or fibre. Customers can also make use of lightning-fast internet through a tiny device that they can self-install, avoiding the inconveniences of fixed line broadband’s protracted installation times.
The T830 platform consists of a primary SoC with an integrated 3GPP Release-16 5G cellular modem, a potent quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 CPU, a sub-6GHz RF transceiver, a GNSS receiver, and related PMICs. A Network Processing Unit (NPU) and a Wi-Fi offload engine are also included into the main SoC to provide multi-gigabit routing rates between 5G cellular and Ethernet or Wi-Fi without the need for a CPU, which improves speed and battery efficiency.
Customers can choose from a variety of MediaTek’s acclaimed Filogic Wi-Fi connectivity options to pair the T830 with. The T830 and Filogic 680 can be coupled to create 5G FWA routers (Tri-band 4×4 Wi-Fi 7). The T830 and Filogic 380 can be linked to create 5G Mobile hotspots (dual-band 2×2 Wi-Fi 7). These products all offer top-tier compatibility for new Wi-Fi 7 features including MLO (Multi-Link Operation) and 320MHz broad channels.
For the best energy efficiency under all 5G connection circumstances, MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave technologies are integrated into the built-in M80 modem. The cellular capabilities of the M80 modem include support for 5G NSA/SA, sub-6GHz connections up to 4CC-CA, and mixed duplex FDD/TDD. There is support for dual 5G SIM (DSDS), according to device manufacturer specifications.
As an added bonus Three PCI-Express root complex controllers, USB 3.2, two 10GbE USXGMII interfaces, and multiple PCM/SPI interfaces for RJ11 phone lines are included in peripheral connectivity. A 3D GPU with a display driver built-in and to meet the open OS framework requirements of different Tier-1 operators, support for RDK-B, prplOS, and OpenSync is required.
