The Dimensity 8200, MediaTek’s newest chipset for high-end 5G devices, was unveiled today. According to the company at a more affordable price range, smartphones running on the Dimensity 8200 will provide flagship-level experiences in networking, gaming, multimedia, displays, and imaging. The new chipset, constructed using a 4nm-class technology, offers unmatched power efficiency.
For improved performance across applications, Dimensity 8200 also includes an octa-core CPU with four Arm Cortex-A78 cores running at up to 3.1 GHz and a potent Mali-G610 graphics engine.
The chipset makes use of MediaTek’s HyperEngine 6.0 gaming technology to improve gaming performance so users may experience fluid high-framerate games without experiencing connection drops, FPS jitter, or gameplay hiccups. Smoother viewing experiences are made possible by MediaTek’s Intelligent Display Sync 2.0 technology, which intelligently adjusts the display refresh rate in accordance with the game frame rate measured.

The Dimensity 8200, which is powered by a flagship-level Imagiq 785 ISP, can record cinematic video by double camera capture for the most realistic bokeh effect, 320MP images, and true-to-life 14-bit HDR video on up to three cameras at once. Additionally, the chipset offers incredibly quick AI noise reduction to preserve fine details, especially in dimly lit conditions. It will also support 180Hz Full HD+ and 120Hz WQHD+ monitors and offers Immersive viewing experiences with 4K AV1 media decoding, AI SDR-to-HDR video playback, and HDR10+ Adaptive compatibility.
The Dimensity 8200’s fully integrated 5G modem uses the most recent 3GPP Release-16 standard technology and 3CC carrier aggregation to boost performance at sub-6GHz. While the 2×2 antenna guarantees increased performance and connection stability, the chipset also supports tri-band Wi-Fi 6E for quicker wireless communication.
As for availability, Dimensity 8200 will power new 5G gadgets that hit the market around the world in December 2022.
“The MediaTek Dimensity 8200 will enhance the gaming experience on premium 5G smartphones, and will deliver smoother gameplay with higher framerates, impressive graphics, and seamless connectivity,” said CH Chen, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit. “Plus, the Dimensity 8200’s power efficiency enhancements make it so consumers don’t have to sacrifice battery life to enjoy super high performance.”
