Mi Mix Fold global launch tipped, India launch expected soon

Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold is relatively cheaper than the popular Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Earlier in March last year, Xiaomi unveiled its first foldable handset in the market. After launching Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold in its home market Xiaomi is now gearing up to bring its phone into the global arena. The market is largely dominated by three companies Samsung, Motorola and Huawei and this device is the company’s answer to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Huawei Mate X2. The phone has been recently spotted on the global IMEI database along with India IMEI databases that means the phone will make its way to the Indian market as well as to other regions soon.

Tipster Mukul Sharma shared on Twitter that Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold has been spotted outside China. The device appeared on the global IMEI database with model number M2011J18G. The G in the model number speaks for the ‘global’ which means the global launch is expected to happen soon. Apart from this the Xiaomi’s foldable device has also been discovered on the India IMEI database, which indicates the launch in the country also.

Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold

Taking a fast recap of its specs, the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold is relatively cheaper than the popular Samsung Galaxy Fold. It comes with an 8.01-inches OLED screen with a 2,480 x 1,860 OLED screen for the inside display. It supports a 60Hz refresh rate. While the display on the outside features a 6.5-inch OLED display with 2,520 x 840 pixels of resolution and a 27:9 aspect ratio. This display refreshes at 90Hz. Mi MIX Fold is claimed to withstand up to 1 million bends. 

The foldable device includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage options. The Mi MIX Fold adorn a camera module with a secondary display. The sensor onboard includes three lenses namely a 108-megapixel primary sensor, 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and an 8-megapixel ‘liquid lens’. The latter one works as a macro lens and doubles up as a telephoto lens offering a 3x optical zoom. According to the company the 8-megapixel ‘liquid lens’ is powered by its own Surge C1 ISP that helps in quick focusing as well as optimised White Balance with a higher dynamic range.

Xiaomi’s foldable phone also includes four speakers powered by Harman Kardon. In addition to this, there is a 5,020 mAh battery which comes with 67W fast charging support.
