Netflix has announced a major overhaul to its user interface with the inclusion of a new vertical video stream called “Clips” in its mobile app. The service, which was first made public earlier this month, started rolling out to users in India. This release comes in the wake of Netflix’s smart TV app, completed in May 2025, aimed at simplifying navigation and improving the overall user experience across devices. Clips allow users to get a sneak peek of shows and movies and provide them with information to help them choose what to watch.
Netflix is rolling out a new feature called “Clips” to improve the mobile experience. And the video stream is vertical, so it’s a fast visual way for users to find content that is relevant to them. Clips is a personalised highlight reel of brief extracts from series, films and specials based on a user’s tastes. The function is designed to help consumers locate something to watch or play next more quickly and enjoyably, without endless scrolling, and to make content discovery easier.

‘Clips’ is created to improve the user experience by making it easy to explore and act on the entertainment space. A critical feature is the ability of users to add TV shows and movies straight from the main feed to a personalised list called “My List“, which simplifies managing their own collection. In addition, ‘Clips’ encourages community participation by enabling users to provide their recommendations via text messaging or other social media platforms, thereby fostering social interactions centred upon content preferences.

To further engage users, the platform also offers personalised exploration options to help users discover the right content for their interests, whether they are watching with their family or on their own. There are also plans for future extension of the service, including the addition of podcasts, live shows and curated collections by genre, expanding the breadth of entertainment options and improving the user experience.
