The Nothing consumer technology company, with headquarters in London, has begun rolling out Nothing OS 2.0 to Phone 1 users. It is jam-packed with additional features, increased customizability, and improved functioning. Users of Nothing’s Phone 2 received Nothing OS 2.0.2a last week. The camera performance was prioritised in this version, with an emphasis on HDR enhancements, low-light settings, and facial clarity. Since the launch of the Phone 2 in July, there has been yet another software development.
Since its release last month, Nothing OS 2.0 has only been accessible to users of the Phone 2, but starting today, Phone 1 users can also utilise the software, which features ‘ mindful consumption’ at its core, as per the company.
To get the new update you must go to settings if you haven’t received a notification, scroll down, click on the System tab, and then select System Update. You can see there that Phone 1 users can now download Nothing OS 2.0. Also, note that you must be connected to a Wi-Fi network since you must download a 0.97GB file. Additionally, it is preferable to charge your device before starting the update process.
The Nothing OS 2.0 brings a notable feature which is the ability to clone apps. Using this feature you will be able to clone apps like WhatsApp and use multiple accounts in apps on the same device without having to log out. In addition to this, an app locker is another capability your phone 1 will get with the new update. This feature will allow you to prevent specific apps from unauthorised access requiring another lock when attempting to open.
According to the company, the changelog only contains the highlight features, but there are many areas in which they have improved the Phone 1 software.
The Nothing Phone 2 glyph (Review) interface has a lot of customisable features which are now been extended to the Nothing Phone 1. Essential Notification which allows your important apps and contacts to leave persistent Glyphs so you know at a glance if you have any important missed notifications. The update also brings the Glyph Torch option that allows you to use the Glyph interface to light up entirely on long pressing the torch option.
As per the changelog the design of the clock, weather, and quick look has been updated. Nothing has also introduced the new Quick Settings widget, allowing you to access settings even quicker. In addition to this Widgets are now also available on lockscreen and AOD.
With the Nothing OS 2 upgrade, the Phone 1’s user interface also gets upgraded. They contain brand-new icon grid layouts for the home screen as well as the option to hide icon labels
