Now you can move/transfer your Apple Music Playlists to YouTube Music: Here is how to

Self-created, collaborative playlists can be uploaded to Apple Music. When you transfer playlists to YouTube Music, they aren’t deleted from Apple Music.

Apple Music is adding a cross-platform capability that allows its users to export their playlists to YouTube Music. At present, just the playlists that you’ve created (including collaborative playlists that you own) are transferred. Music files and folders cannot be transferred using this method. Apple Music does not remove playlists after transfers, and users must have an ongoing membership.

Apple Music subscribers can now move their playlists from Apple Music to YouTube Music by using the Data and Privacy tab, the company revealed. You need to have an active YouTube Music account in addition to a subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match. Per the sheer number and size of playlists, the whole thing may take several hours.

“The transfer process typically takes a few minutes, although it might take up to several hours depending on the number of playlists that you’re transferring,” the support page said.

At this time, only playlists that have been created—including collaborative ones—can be moved.

Music files and curated playlists are not movable, nor are non-collaborative shared playlists. Furthermore, you are unable to transfer the folders containing Apple Music playlists. It isn’t available for child accounts or Managed Apple ID accounts. Song availability on YouTube Music is limited to what can be included in playlists; exclusive tracks, podcasts, or audiobooks will not be imported. Following the transfer, the playlist is kept on Apple Music.

When your transfer is complete you will get a confirmation email from Apple that the transfer is complete, allowing your playlists to appear in the Library tab. However, missing songs may not be available in YouTube Music. If you update a playlist after it’s transferred, it won’t update in the other service. Cancelling your transfer will keep already transferred playlists in YouTube Music.
