POCO C81 Series Launched in India: Big Screens, Bigger Battery, Budget Price

Two new budget smartphones arrive with 120Hz displays, Android 16, and two-day battery life, all under ₹11,000.

If you thought budget smartphones had hit a ceiling, POCO just punched right through it. The brand has officially launched the POCO C81 Series in India, introducing two new devices, the POCO C81 and the POCO C81x smartphones, aimed squarely at everyday users who want reliable performance without burning a hole in their pocket. With prices starting at just ₹9,999, these phones are making a strong case for being the best budget smartphones under 11,000 rupees in 2026.

Meet the POCO C81 and POCO C81x

The POCO C81 Series is not trying to reinvent the wheel. What it is trying to do is give everyday users exactly what they need: a large display, a dependable processor, a long-lasting battery, and a camera that gets the job done. No unnecessary bells and whistles. Just solid, sensible smartphones built for real life.

The POCO C81 comes in at ₹10,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant, while the POCO C81x is priced at ₹9,999 for 3GB + 64GB. Both will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart starting April 27, 2026.

Screens That Actually Impress at This Price

Here is where things get genuinely interesting. The POCO C81 sports a 6.9-inch HD+ display, and the POCO C81x follows closely with a 6.88-inch HD+ panel. Both screens support an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, which means scrolling through Instagram or binge-watching your favourite series feels noticeably smooth, something you would not typically expect at this price point.

Both devices also carry TÜV Rheinland certification for Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free display technology, which is a thoughtful addition for users who spend long hours staring at their screens.

Performance and Software: Android 16 on a Budget

The POCO C81 runs on Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3, making it one of the very few budget phones to ship with Android 16 out of the box. It is backed by LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, which translates to faster app launches and smoother multitasking. The device also comes with a solid software support promise: 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches.

The POCO C81x keeps things a bit simpler, still using LPDDR4X RAM but offering 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates. It is optimised for essential tasks, calls, messages, social media, and entertainment.

Both phones include a suite of AI-driven features to make everyday navigation and multitasking feel more intuitive.

Battery Life That Lasts (and Then Some)

Both devices in the series come equipped with large batteries that POCO claims can power the phones for approximately two days on a single charge. They both support 15W fast charging, with the charger included in the box,  a detail that many premium brands have quietly abandoned.

There is also 7.5W reverse charging support on both devices, so you can top up your earbuds or a friend’s phone in a pinch. Practical? Absolutely.

Cameras: Capable, Not Groundbreaking

Photography is not the headline act here, but both phones hold their own. The POCO C81 features a 13MP dual AI rear camera, while the POCO C81x comes with a 13MP single rear shooter. Both include an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

Key camera features across both devices include:

  • HDR and Night Mode for better shots in tricky lighting
  • Portrait Mode for depth-effect photos
  • Time-lapse recording
  • 1080p video recording at 30fps

Not a photographer’s dream, but more than enough for everyday moments.

Design, Build, and Everyday Durability

The POCO C81 measures 8.15mm thin and weighs 208g, while the POCO C81x is slightly slimmer at 8.26mm and lighter at 193g. Both phones feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor with gesture support and carry an IP52 rating, offering basic protection against dust and light splashes.

For connectivity, both devices support Bluetooth 5.2, Dual Band Wi-Fi, and include a 3.5mm headphone jack, because yes, people still use wired earphones.

Storage starts at 64GB on both models, but the real win is the dedicated expandable storage slot that supports microSD cards up to 2TB. That is a lot of room for photos, offline videos, and apps.

Should You Buy the POCO C81 Series?

For under ₹11,000, getting Android 16, a 120Hz display, two-day battery life, an in-box charger, and a multi-year security support window is genuinely impressive. The POCO C81 Series does not try to compete with flagships; it just quietly delivers more than its price tag suggests it should. If that is not the definition of a smart buy, it is hard to know what is.
