After the ban, PUBG to soon make a comeback in India. The company confirmed it and the game will now be known as PUBG Mobile India. Apart from the new branding, the game has been specifically designed for Indian users. Recently, the game was in the news for its deal with Microsoft’s Azure that will be its next publisher, after the company cut its ties with the Chinese publisher Tencent. This agreement will allow PUBG to host the game on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform. Those who are unaware of Azure, it is Microsoft’s public cloud computing service that focuses on privacy and data storage.
PUBG’s ordeal in India is soon to become a thing of the past. The parent company of the popular game has announced that it is going to relaunch a new game called PUBG Mobile India to cater to the Indian market. The game is making a comeback after it was banned in September by the Indian government. Due to this, the PUBG Corporation also cut its ties with Shenzhen-based Tencent Games in India by taking the rights to publish the game as its authorised PUBG Mobile franchise.
According to the company, to maintain privacy and security of Indian player’s data, it will conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users’ personally identifiable information. This will reinforce security and ensure that their data is safely managed.
PUBG Mobile India promises to make a comeback with a healthy gameplay environment. Over that, in-game content will be improved and tailored to reflect local needs. To cater Indian players the game now is being set in a virtual simulation training ground, new characters automatically start with cloths, and green hit effects to reflect the virtual nature of the game. More importantly, the company will include a feature that places restrictions on game time to promote healthy gameplay habits for younger players.
In addition to this, PUBG Corporation has also announced the creation of an Indian subsidiary to enhance communications and services with players. It will establish a local office here and the subsidiary will be responsible for hiring over 100 employees specializing in business, esports, and game development it will establish.
Also, Krafton PUBG Corporation will make investments worth USD 100 million in India to cultivate the local video game, esports, entertainment, and IT industries. Outside of the manufacturing industry, these investments will represent the largest made by a Korean company. Additionally, the company has also planned to make investments by hosting India-exclusive esports events, which will feature the biggest tournaments, the largest prize pools, and the best tournament productions.
