Redmi 7A with 12MP Sony IMX486 camera launched in India: Price and specifications

All eyes on the Redmi 7A smartphone now!

Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has today launched its Redmi 7A smartphone in India. The company launched the device in the country via a web stream and has announced that Redmi 7A will go on sale starting July 11. The Chinese smartphone maker has said that the device is its answer to the likes of Samsung Galaxy M10 and Nokia 2.2.

The key features of the handset include an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, 32GB of internal storage and its 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor. Here’s a look at the price, specifications and launch offers of the Redmi 7A in India:

Redmi 7A price in India

Redmi 7A smartphone is available in 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 2GB RAM/32GB storage variants in India that are priced at Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,199 respectively. The handset is available in three colours – Matte Black, Matte Blue, and Matte Gold.

As an introductory offer, the company is offering a discount of Rs 200 on both the variants of the handset. This offer is only valid in July 2019.

The first sale of the smartphone will begin on July 11 at 12 pm (noon) IST. The handset will be available for purchase via Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores. Xiaomi has also announced that at a later stage, the Redmi 7A will also be available via offline retail stores in the country.

Redmi 7A specifications and features

The Redmi 7A smartphone has support for dual SIM cards and it runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with MIUI 10. The device comes with a 5.45-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) display that has an aspect ratio of 18:9. Powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, the handset comes with up to 2GB of RAM.

For imaging duties, the Redmi 7A sports a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor on its back panel coupled with an LED flash and a PDAF lens. It also has a 5MP selfie camera on its front panel that supports an AI Face Unlock feature.

The company has also announced that it will be getting an AI Scene Detection feature to the Redmi handset via an over-the-air update.

The device is available in 16GB and 32GB of internal storage and can hold a microSD card of up to 256GB. Redmi 7A houses a 4,000mAh battery that has support for 10W charging and for connectivity it has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS, FM radio, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
