Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has announced a new entry-level smartphone in the Indian market. The company introduced the Redmi A3 powered by MediaTek Helio G36 SoC. The budget phone runs on Android 13 (Go Edition). It features an AI-powered dual rear camera setup. Additionally, it is fuelled by a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support.

Redmi A3 has launched in India with a starting price of Rs 7,299 for the 3GB RAM with 64GB storage option. On the other hand, the price of the 4GB RAM with 128GB storage is set at Rs 8,299. There is another 6GB RAM with a 128GB storage model priced at Rs 9,299. The device will come in three different colour options: Midnight Black, Lake Blue and Olive Green.

The new entry-level smartphone is scheduled to go on sale from February 23 via Flipkart, Mi.com, and retail partners in the country.

Redmi A3 specifications

Redmi A3 is highlighted with a 6.71-inch HD+ display with 1,600×700 pixels of resolution. The screen supports a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a 120Hz touch sampling rate. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under its hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 SoC paired with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM which can be further expanded to up to 12GB, thanks to the virtual RAM feature. In terms of software the device runs on Android 13 (Go Edition) with MIUI 14 custom skin on top. The phone also comes with up to 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage which is also expandable up to 1TB via microSD card.

For photos and videos, the Redmi A3 features an AI-powered dual rear camera setup that includes an 8-megapixel primary sensor and a 0.08-megapixel secondary sensor. For taking selfies and video calling the device has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

In terms of connectivity, there is 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, micro-USB port, Glonass, a 3.5mm audio jack and BeiDou. The sensors on board include an accelerometer, e-compass and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for phone unlocking.

The handset is backed by a 5,000mAh battery which comes with 10W fast charging support.
