Our smartphone is most exposed to infection-causing germs, bacteria and viruses as it travels with us everywhere. According to a report our devices are filthier than a toilet seat, therefore, causing skin infections and other diseases. And in the time of coronavirus people have also become more hygienic now. Keeping this in mind and to maintain hygiene Samsung has launched an innovative product in India. The South Korean brand has launched Samsung UV Sterilizer with Wireless Charging to quickly disinfect your smartphone, earbuds and glasses, in just 10 minutes. According to the company, the Sterilizer has been manufactured by the Samsung C&T which is a partner of the Samsung Mobile Accessory Partnership Program (SMAPP). The device is now available via select online and retail stores.
Samsung has launched its UV Sterilizer to keep all your gadgets clean. The Sterilizer allows you to disinfect your devices by killing the bacteria and germs in just 10 minutes. The device is touted to eliminate 99% of bacteria and germs, including E. Coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans according to tests done by two independent test and certification institutes, Intertek and SGS. However, it is likely to kill the coronavirus actually in order to kill the virus, a high amount of UVC exposure is required that Samsung’s UV Sterilizer is now capable of. So the company also doesn’t advertise it to be a successful preventive against the coronavirus.
Samsung’s UV Sterilizer is measured 196 x 96 x 33 mm which allows you to keep a large phablet inside to disinfect and there is enough space to keep earbuds and earphones inside it. The device also allows you to disinfect your sunglasses, keys and other accessories. The product can sterilize both the lower and the upper part of the device and is compact and small enough to be carried along with you in your bag. The UV Sterilizer is easy to use, with a single button that turns on4 or off the UV function. What’s more, the device automatically turns off after 10 minutes. According to the company if the product is not exposed to the UV light will not be disinfected. To ensure product performance is not compromised, it is not recommended to use the UV function for more than 10 minutes at a time. The green light indicates UV Sterilizer is turned on.
The UV Sterilizer comes with a built-in wireless charging feature so you can charge your Qi-enabled smartphone or earphones while the device is being cleaned. It has a maximum wireless charging output of 10 watts. Charging does not stop when the UV Sterilizer turns off.
At the moment it is available in Thailand with a price tag of TBH 1,560 that translates to Rs 3,743. The company is expected to announce the pricing of Samsung UV Sterilizer in the international markets in a few weeks.
