Samsung’s much-awaited blood pressure and electrocardiogram (ECG) tracking feature is now being expanded to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 5, and Watch 4 Series in India. ECG (Electro Cardiography) and BP (Blood Pressure) monitoring were previously available in other regions but not to Indian users, but it is now being made accessible to Galaxy Watch users in the country, allowing them to monitor their health from their wrist. These features will be very useful to those with heart-related diseases who need regular monitoring.
Samsung has officially released ECG (Electro Cardiography) and BP (Blood Pressure) monitoring features for the Galaxy Watch6 series for the first time in India through an OTA (over-the-air) update. Along with the Watch 6 Series (Review), the company has also rolled out these features for the Watch 5 and Watch 4 Series. Users will be able to easily monitor their health, support their fitness regimes, and enable regular health checkups.

Both health monitoring features can be accessed through the Samsung Health Monitor App. According to the company, both capabilities are being rolled out after they have received regulatory clearances and certifications from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation.
To access the BP and ECG tracking features of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 5, and Watch 4 Series, users can download the Samsung Health Monitor App, available on the Galaxy Store, and follow simple instructions to measure their BP and ECG. Both features will also be made available on the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 series.
The blood pressure test measures the pressure in the arteries while the heart pumps. The Galaxy Watch includes a Photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor that can record systolic and diastolic pressure, as well as pulse rate, and save data in the Samsung Health Monitor app.

Whereas, ECG measures the heart’s rhythm and electrical activity to detect abnormal beats. Sensors are put on the skin to detect the electrical signals produced by your heart each time it beats, and the information is recorded on a graph.
With the latest version, you can now use the Samsung Health Monitor ECG app to create, record, save, and share ECG data.

How to use the blood pressure feature
- Download the Samsung Health Monitor App on your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphone.
- Calibrate your Galaxy Watch based on the instructions on the Samsung Health Monitor app.
- Wear your Galaxy Watch on the same wrist as during the calibration and make sure the strap is snug, then measure your blood pressure.
- Review your blood pressure measurements.

How to use the ECG feature
- Pair your Galaxy Watch with the Galaxy smartphone.
- Wear the Galaxy Watch snugly on your wrist.
- Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch.
- To take an ECG reading, rest your fingertip of the opposite hand lightly on the Galaxy Watch’s top button for 30 seconds.
- The ECG data is synced to the paired Galaxy smartphone, where a PDF report is created.
