An important step forward in space travel was made as SpaceX’s Starship rocket ran back to its launch tower with success. A major accomplishment, the rocket’s return to its launch tower was the first step towards a rapidly deployable and reusable rocket. After the rocket booster made a safe landing, Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, celebrated the accomplishment and called the voyage “a day for the history books.” After the rocket’s first stage “Super Heavy” booster took off from SpaceX’s launch complex in Boca Chica, Texas, the Starship second stage rocket was sent into orbit and eventually separated at a height of around 70 kilometres to start its descent back to Earth.

In its quest to create reusable rockets that can carry more cargo into space orbit and carry people to the moon and Mars, SpaceX made a major stride forward with the successful execution of a “catch-landing” technique during its fifth Starship rocket test flight.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX utilised its launch pad’s mechanical arms to successfully intercept its Starship rocket’s returning booster. Instead of landing the rocket on floating platforms in the water, the firm caught the booster directly on its pad for the first time with this operation. For its smaller Falcon 9 rockets, SpaceX has been employing this technique for over nine years. Seven minutes after launch, the launch pad’s mechanical arms securely captured the rocket’s return booster. The 232-foot rocket descended and was captured by the chopstick-shaped metal arms of the launch tower.

The chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra, voiced his enthusiasm about the impending Elon Musk space venture, saying that it may represent a turning point in the democratisation and regularisation of space travel. He also enquired about where to get his ticket.

His X post reads, “And this Sunday, I’m happy to be a couch potato if it means that I get to watch history being made. This experiment may just be the critical moment when space travel was democratised and made routine. Where can I buy my ticket, @elonmusk?”
