The US trade ban on Chinese smartphone brand Huawei has affected the company to a great extent. A number of technology companies based in the United States, including big giants like Google and Microsoft, have halted their business with the company. This has put the smartphone maker in a bad position as it would affect not only its current generation of new smartphones, but its older handsets too as they would not receive Android updates and security patches. At least that is what we thought till now. But now, the company has tweeted a list of devices that will receive the upcoming Android Q update.

We should mention that the company had already released a list of its smartphones that will be receiving the Android Q update, but that was before the US-trade ban took place. After it happened, there was no assurance if any smartphone from the company would be receiving the update. But later, the company added some handsets to the list and the company said that they will receive the upcoming Android Q update. Now, the Spanish division of Huawei has taken to \to announce some other devices from its Mate-series that will be receiving the new Android Q update.

It should be mentioned that the new Huawei devices that have been added to the list of smartphones to receive the Android Q update are include Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design, Huawei Mate 20 lite, Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design and the Huawei Mate 20 X. The users of these smartphones should be relieved that their devices will be getting the upcoming Android Q update. Huawei’s tweet also says, “Our commitment is with you, our users”.

Huawei’s claim is a bold but doubtful one right now because even though it has promised to provide the Android Q update to certain smartphones, currently it is not clear what will become of the US trade ban. Huawei is coming up with its own operating system that can be used in its devices and has even started testing it in China. But it is still not certain whether the new OS will be successful. Android has become a norm for the smartphone world and although iOS is also widely used but it too has Google apps and support in it. But Huawei’s operating system will not have any Google apps. So, the chances of it being successful seem slim as of now.
