WhatsApp rolling out caption edit feature, allowing users to edit media: Details

Its instant messaging platform WhatsApp recently introduced several features, and the firm is said to working on a new one that may be of great use to users just like the edit sent messages feature. Reportedly a new feature is rolling out and may soon allow WhatsApp users to edit media captions.

According to a report by WaBetaInfo soon WhatsApp users will be able to edit media captions thanks to an update to the message editing feature. As per the report the new feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp for iOS 23.16.72 update, which is accessible on the App Store. Installing the most recent versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android improves communication by enabling users to update descriptions for photographs, videos, GIFs, and documents after sending them.

Users wouldn’t be able to use this feature for a few weeks, according to the changelog. The report claims that WhatsApp is now broadly rolling out this feature to all users after installing the most recent upgrades of WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store and the TestFlight app, as well as WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store.

So to access this feature, simply tap and hold a recent message with a caption. This function was formerly restricted to text messages alone. However, the feature has now officially been expanded to include media messages as a result of recent update. Note that with the new functionality, captions for videos, GIFs, and documents can now be edited, provided that it is done within 15 minutes of sending the message.

According to the report, it is important to remember that the only device from which a message with a caption can be edited is the one from which the original message was sent.

Also, the caption edit feature is currently accessible to a limited number of users who download the most recent versions of WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store and WhatsApp for Android from the Play Store; more users will be able to do so over the next few days.
