WhatsApp is working on a feature called Passkey that would enable end-to-end encrypted backups in place of complicated passwords or biometric security measures. Through the Google Play Beta Program, WhatsApp is releasing the feature in a new update that will be accessible in a later release, updating the version to 2.24.18.13. Passkeys can be used by users to encrypt chat backups thanks to this privacy feature, which was added last year. Additionally, this capability is being utilised to ensure that only authorised users may access and restore chat history by adding an additional degree of authentication to end-to-end encrypted backups. The most recent Android 2.24.18.13 beta version of WhatsApp is now being developed and may be downloaded from the Google Play Store. A future release will include a passkey capability for end-to-end encrypted backups. This feature is currently under development.

To ensure accessibility and security, the passkey is safely kept in a password manager, eliminating the need to manually save a unique password that might be misplaced or forgotten.
