Have you ever thought how cool it would be if we could hide our profile photo on WhatsApp from a specific person in the contact list? Well, this thought might come true very soon, as the Instant messaging app seems to be working on this feature. Yes, the company will be updating its privacy setting for both Android and iOS devices. In addition to this, the social media platform is also likely to bring privacy features such as disable last seen and hiding About Status for specific contacts.
As per the latest report by WABetaInfo soon WhatsApp will be offering “My Contacts Except” privacy option that will allow users to disable their Last Seen, Profile Photo, and About status. To manage these privacy settings, currently, you are allowed to set all these three options to Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody. But you are not allowed to set these for specific contacts and hide their Last Seen, Profile Photo and About Status with Nobody. But when WhatsApp updates its privacy settings you can enable your last seen, and you can disable it for specific contacts.
WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot to confirm that this feature is under works. The screenshot has been taken from WhatsApp for iOS, but WhatsApp will obviously introduce it on WhatsApp for Android too as per the report.
Other than 3 privacy options: Everyone, My Contacts, Nobody the screenshot shows “My contacts except” for last seen, but the same option is said to be applicable to other privacy settings as well, such as “profile photo” and “about”. It should be noted, if you disable your last seen for specific contacts, you won’t be able to see theirs.
As of now the new updated privacy settings is under development and WhatsApp will enable it for beta testers in a future update.
Besides this, the instant messaging app owned by Facebook was also spotted testing the Message Reactions feature to express emotions via emojis and other social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, iMessage. The shared screenshot revealed a message containing 7 reactions. Reportedly the reaction isn’t anonymous, so everyone in the conversation will be able to see who reacted to a specific message
