Fossil group today announced the release of a new software update for the Gen5 smartwatch in order to improve the user’s experience. It comes with a slew of new features that include improved activity tracker, Sleep tracking, cardio fitness tracking, enhanced look along with new battery saving modes and phone app updates.
Starting today the American designer company Fossil will be rolling out new health tracking updates for it’s Gen 5 Smartwatch users in India. Recently Google announced a number of updates it’s Wear OS that comes with minor up-gradation and today Fossil has released a bulk of new updates besides the standard Wear OS offering an array of health tracking features as well as features for battery optimisation.
In addition to this, the software update also includes cardio fitness level (VO2 max) and accurate sleep tracker. And yes, just like Samsung Galaxy Watch it now comes with a much-need feature which is a hand-wash timer that allows users to scrub up, safely. Additionally, it enables users to avoid touching high-contact surfaces with voice commands.
In total, the company has rolled out five major upgrades to its Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch which is now available in India. The Optimised Activity Tracker feature on the watch will allow the user to effectively track their workouts with the support of the new Wellness App. The app will be monitoring your real-time metrics without losing the charge by shifting power consumption off the main processor. It will let you monitor your heart rate, pace, distance, steps, calories and more.
While the Sleep Tracking feature will let you track your sleeping pattern and monitor your restfulness and set sleep goals. In addition, to watch can now be charged to 80 percent in 50 minutes along with enhanced battery modes.
The users of the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch can now keep a tab on their Cardio Fitness Level, or VO2 max with the Cardio Fitness Tracking feature on the watch. This will notify your overall cardiorespiratory health while also displaying an estimation of VO2 max using resting heart rate and user biometrics (age, gender, weight) to display an approximated overall fitness level over time.
As we mentioned earlier the company has also rolled out new battery mode that can be customised according to your lifestyle and workout activity. You can create a mode for workouts or after-work hours and more this will help you save more power enabling more wearability. Also, the users can switch to Extended Mode to reach 24 hours of battery life. In addition to this, the company is also offering custom profile creation and a simplified design for easier readability.
The Phone app now comes with a new phone tile along with fresh avatars and the ability for quick access to the ongoing call status. In addition to this, you can also view your previous call history with improved overall usability. According to the company, both Android and iPhone users can continue to answer tethered calls through exclusive work done by Fossil.
