ZTE Axon 30 5G featuring an under-display selfie camera launched

The Chinese Telecommunications and equipment company ZTE has launched a new under-display selfie camera smartphone Axon 30 5G in China. The device features a  truly fullscreen experience. In addition to this, the new smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. It further includes a quad rear camera setup and a 120Hz refresh rate display.

Commenting on the launch the company said, “Screen and photography are the two development directions of future smartphone evolution. Today, we bring our new-generation under-display selfie camera smartphone ZTE Axon 30. With further reinforced performance and comprehensive upgrades, the ZTE Axon 30 proves a leap-forward improvement and brings our users a revolutionary full-screen visual experience compared to the previous generation.”

ZTE Axon 30 5G price and availability details

ZTE Axon 30 has been launched in multiple configurations of 6GB RAM with 128GB storage priced at CNY 2,198 (approx Rs 25,000) whereas 6GB RAM with 128GB storage at CNY 2,498 (approx Rs 28,500). The top of the line models which are 8GB + 256GB storage variant and  12GB + 256GB storage model will be available at CNY 2,798 (approx Rs 32,000) and CNY 3,098 (approx Rs 35,400) respectively. All these versions will be accessible in two colour options of Black and Green and can be purchased via ZTE Mall in China.

ZTE Axon 30 5G specifications and features

ZTE Axon 30 5G features a 6.92-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display offering 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution. The screen has a 20.5:9 cinema-grade aspect ratio and comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling support. The screen covers 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and supports 10-bit colour depth and 1.07 billion colours. The device is claimed to be the first to authorize with the three authoritative eye protection certifications, covering TUV, SGS and UL. The ZTE Axon 30’s screen can effectively reduce blue light radiation, protect eyesight, and support DC dimming to reduce visual fatigue caused by screen flicker, providing multiple features for its users to care for their eyes.

The device runs on  MyOS 11, based on Android 11. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage. The new device adopts the self-developed memory fusion technology, using part of the free storage space to expand the running memory by up to 5GB.

In terms of photography, ZTE Axon 30 5G is highlighted with a  quad rear camera setup housing a 64-megapixel sensor with an f/1.79 aperture. It further includes an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with 120-degree FoV, a 5-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The cameras support dual-way video stabilization for the main camera and a wide-angle camera that can intelligently correct video shooting jitter in motion and make dynamic video shooting more clear and stable.

The ZTE Axon 30 is also the first under-display selfie camera smartphone having a resolution of 16-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture. Additionally the phone ships a  4,200mAh battery with support for 55W fast charging. In terms of connectivity, there is  5G, Wi-Fi 6, USB Type-C port and Bluetooth v5.1. The triple ice cooling system, consisting of a large VC liquid cooling plate, high power thermal gel, and graphene copper-based composite material, can guarantee continuous high performance.
