Today, Xiaomi introduced its first gadget in the Turbo series, the Redmi Turbo 5, in India. It has a dual back camera arrangement with a 50-megapixel main sensor and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8000 series octa-core CPU. Its other highlights include a 1.5K AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 7,540mAh battery with support for 100W wired fast charging. The Redmi Turbo 5 will be available in three different colours and will go on sale soon.

India price and availability

The Redmi Turbo 5 will be available from 12:00 PM, June 19, and available on Mi.com, Amazon.in and Xiaomi retail in India. The gadget is available in two variations. The 8GB + 256GB model is priced at a Suggested Retail Price (SRP) of Rs 37,999. With a bank discount of Rs 2,000, the Net Effective Price (NEP) is Rs 35,999. The 12GB + 256GB model with LPDDR5X Ultra is available for an SRP of Rs 40,999 with Rs 2,000 off, giving a NEP of Rs 38,999. The device is available in three colour variants: Asphalt Black, Nitro Blue and Turbo White.

The Redmi Turbo 5 features a rugged design with a motorsports-inspired look, equipped with responsive Pixel Matrix ring lights and dual-sided glass that is supported by an aerospace-grade metal frame and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for high durability. The phone is rated IP66, IP68 and IP69K for water and dust resistance.

The 1.5K AMOLED screen on the display can reach up to 3,500 nits of brightness and supports a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and a 12-bit colour depth for immersive visuals. Certified by TÜV Rheinland to reduce eye strain and improve user comfort for extended periods of viewing.

Under the hood, the device is powered by LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage, which ensures quick app launches and great multitasking capabilities. MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor offers better performance in demanding situations and also improves efficiency.

Thanks to REDMI’s unique 3D IceLoop cooling and Game Turbo Wild Boost, the device can handle thermals during intense usage and provide smooth gaming at 120fps for over 20 games.

On the software side, it runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3, which brings features like HyperConnect, HyperAI and Google Gemini integration. The company promises four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security patches, promising long life and security for the gadget.

The dual camera system consists of a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary sensor with OIS, EIS and 4K video recording at 60fps. And the Turbo Snap burst mode delivers an incredible 100 images in 4.4 seconds, with an AI Image Editing Suite for complex editing features. Along with the main camera, the gadget also contains an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.2) with optical and electronic image stabilisation, which guarantees high-quality photographs. It also has a 20-megapixel front camera (f/2.2) for selfies and video chats with up to 4K video recording at 60 fps.

The device comes with a big 7540mAh battery that uses 16% Silicon Carbon technology for battery longevity. It supports 100W HyperCharge for fast charging, 51% in 30 minutes, and there’s also 27W reverse charging for accessories.

Finally, the audio experience is much improved with dual stereo speakers that are backed by Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, providing rich, high-quality audio for the user.
