Its glass back panel has a matte finish and a giant circular camera cutout for the primary shooter, depth sensor, IR blaster, and LED flash. The steel ring around this panel exudes a premium feel. The back panel is curved along the sides and blends seamlessly with the rounded edges of the plastic frame.The plastic frame houses the volume rocker keys and the side button on its right edge. The SIM tray, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and speaker grille are positioned on the bottom edge. Up top lies the secondary microphone. The T4 does not have a dual speaker setup.Vivo T4’s updated AMOLED display can reach a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. Compared to the 1,800 nits of peak brightness on the Vivo T3, this is a huge upgrade. The display remains clear and legible under direct sunlight. The 6.77-inch panel has a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes for a smooth scrolling experience. The optical fingerprint scanner is placed a good 2 inches below the ideal spot. While its positioning may be off, it is quite snappy to use.During the review period, we used the Vivo T4 5G as our primary media streaming device. We used it to watch titles across major OTT apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and JioHotstar. The smartphone offered amazing visuals and a good range of viewing angles. The images showcased incredible details and fine contrast. The colours were rich and vibrant. The only drawback is the lone bottom-firing speaker. While the audio output was well-rounded, it wasn’t loud enough to overcome the background sounds from the ceiling fan and AC.

On the Geekbench 6 app, the T4 5G scored 1,150 points in the single-core test and 3,181 points in the multi-core test. It handled everyday tasks like calling, instant messaging, media streaming, web browsing, and navigation with utmost expertise. The app on the device took fractionally longer to load, but that’s largely due to the slower storage configuration. Juggling multiple apps did not present any issues whatsoever.Vivo T4 5G offers a decent gaming performance, but it doesn’t compare to the dedicated gaming smartphones in its category. This isn’t a big issue as Vivo doesn’t market it as a gaming device. Having said that, the smartphone can run titles like Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt Legends Unite at a 60fps frame rate and medium graphics. The gameplay is generally lag-free with almost no frame drops. The glass back panel starts warming up after 20 minutes of gameplay.The Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 handles the software duties on the Vivo T4 5G. Our favourite aspect of Vivo’s custom Android skin is its customisability. Elements like fingerprint scanner icon, AOD face, sliding effects, app icons, charging effect, and more can be altered to suit your taste. On top of that, you get AI features like Circle to Search, Gemini Assistant, AI Eraser, AI Photo Enhance, AI Note Assist, and Super Documents. Vivo has promised 2 major OS upgrades and 3 years of security patches for the T4 5G.If a big battery is one of your biggest priorities while buying a smartphone, then there’s no beating the 7,300mAh Si/C unit on this device. It can comfortably last 2 days if you’re slightly moderate with your usage. During the review period, our daily tasks on the Vivo T4 5G consisted of video calling, instant messaging, emailing, social media browsing, multimedia streaming, and even a bit of gaming. The smartphone lasted 2 days, with a screen time of almost 7 hours. The 90W power adapter provided with the smartphone took just over an hour to fully charge it.The rear camera panel of the Vivo T4 houses a 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. The absence of an ultrawide lens in this array is a little disappointing. We used the Solid Purple variant for this review. The matte finish on the fiberglass back prevents it from registering smudges and fingerprints. Oppo claims that the smartphone can withstand drops from pockets, desks, and stairs. The camera panel is aligned to the top-centre and has a very minimal bump. As a result, the smartphone does not wobble when placed on a flat surface.The flat back panel merges seamlessly with the plastic frame. On the right edge of this frame lie the volume rocker keys and the side button. The SIM tray, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and primary speaker find their way to the bottom. The secondary microphone and speaker are housed up top. The smartphone is rated IP68/69 for dust and water resistance. It can withstand high-pressure water jets and is immersible up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.The 6.7-inch AMOLED display on the F29 has a 120Hz refresh rate and can hit 1,200 nits in High Brightness Mode. It is surrounded by slim and uniform bezels. The touch response of the display is smooth, and the optical fingerprint scanner is quite snappy. It holds up well in bright outdoor conditions. This display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.We used the Oppo F29 as our primary media streaming device during the review period and were very happy with the viewing experience. While there are more powerful processors in this price bracket, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 on the Oppo F29 puts up a decent everyday performance. Tasks like video calling, media streaming, instant messaging, and web browsing are handled with expertise. The overall browsing experience is smooth, but not as snappy as other smartphones in the segment. On the bright side, this smartphone has a better haptic motor than its rivals.The Oppo F29 does a decent job of running gaming titles like Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt Legends Unite. There are no frame drops to be seen when you stick to medium graphics and a 60fps frame rate. However, the gameplay takes a significant hit when you move to high graphics. The internal thermal management system of the device is passable. We felt the back panel warm up after 20 minutes of gameplay.The Android 15-based ColorOS 15 handles the software duties on this smartphone. The Oppo F29 is built for rugged use. It can withstand a tumble down the stairs or a dip in the water. Its smooth software experience nicely complements the tough exterior. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset at the heart of this device is not the most powerful processor in this category, but it handles everyday tasks with ease. The lack of an ultrawide sensor is a letdown, but the primary camera takes good pictures in daylight conditions. The icing on the cake is the splendid battery life offered by the massive 6,500mAh Si/C unit.

During the review period, we used the Vivo T4 5G as our primary media streaming device. We used it to watch titles across major OTT apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and JioHotstar. The smartphone offered amazing visuals and a good range of viewing angles. The images showcased incredible details and fine contrast. The colours were rich and vibrant. The only drawback is the lone bottom-firing speaker. While the audio output was well-rounded, it wasn’t loud enough to overcome the background sounds from the ceiling fan and AC.
On the Geekbench 6 app, the T4 5G scored 1,150 points in the single-core test and 3,181 points in the multi-core test. It handled everyday tasks like calling, instant messaging, media streaming, web browsing, and navigation with utmost expertise. The app on the device took fractionally longer to load, but that’s largely due to the slower storage configuration. Juggling multiple apps did not present any issues whatsoever.
Vivo T4 5G offers a decent gaming performance, but it doesn’t compare to the dedicated gaming smartphones in its category. This isn’t a big issue as Vivo doesn’t market it as a gaming device. Having said that, the smartphone can run titles like Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt Legends Unite at a 60fps frame rate and medium graphics. The gameplay is generally lag-free with almost no frame drops. The glass back panel starts warming up after 20 minutes of gameplay.

If a big battery is one of your biggest priorities while buying a smartphone, then there’s no beating the 7,300mAh Si/C unit on this device. It can comfortably last 2 days if you’re slightly moderate with your usage. During the review period, our daily tasks on the Vivo T4 5G consisted of video calling, instant messaging, emailing, social media browsing, multimedia streaming, and even a bit of gaming. The smartphone lasted 2 days, with a screen time of almost 7 hours. The 90W power adapter provided with the smartphone took just over an hour to fully charge it.

The cameras on the phone have been well optimised. The images have brighter, more brilliant hues and a much more realistic appearance. Additionally, the focus is really strong. There is room for improvement in dynamic range. In other words, the shadows were being squashed in certain spots.
In terms of construction, the handset seems sturdy and well-made, with hardly any chassis flex. It has Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front and a plastic centre frame between two panes of glass. Unlike the A35, which had a plastic rear panel, the A36 this year also has a Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the back side.
However, the most significant design shift is visible at the back, where Samsung has replaced the Galaxy A35’s individual camera lens architecture with a single pill-shaped camera island that houses all three camera lenses.

Unlike other phones like the Galaxy S25 and S24, which employ separate camera lenses, Samsung’s Galaxy A series has a distinctive appearance. This design modification stands out for its originality, even if it may not have been intended for any particular reason. This provides the phone a unique appearance, but it also causes it to wobble when placed on a flat surface.

The main distinction between the two models is that the current model’s peak brightness is noticeably brighter than the previous one. In general, this translates to a more immersive experience, enhanced HDR video watching, and greater visibility outdoors.
Although both screens have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the A36 is a better choice for people who like to watch a lot of media or who regularly use their phones in brightly lit situations due to its higher brightness. The compatibility for a refresh rate of 120 Hz makes navigating the screen feel fluid. Thus far, we have seen that the screen is bright, has strong contrast, and has excellent white balance.
In addition, the Galaxy A36 5G has an optical fingerprint scanner built into the screen, however, it is not as quick as ultrasonic ones. It works effectively, but if a fingerprint is misplaced, inaccurate readings are provided.
One end of the Galaxy A36’s hybrid stereo speaker system has an amplified earpiece, while the other end has a dedicated bottom-firing speaker. The sound quality is also good; it’s clear and powerful.

The cameras on the phone have been well optimised. The images have brighter, more brilliant hues and a much more realistic appearance. Additionally, the focus is really strong. There is room for improvement in dynamic range. In other words, the shadows were being squashed in certain spots.
On the other hand, the 8 MP ultrawide pictures offer a broad perspective, producing good and vibrant photographs; however, they lose clarity when enlarged.
The separation of the subject and backdrop appears natural in portraiture as well. The background colours and skin tone seem more vibrant.
In selfies, the skin tone seems natural even after skin optimisation. The front camera also met our expectations with no issues, and the edge awareness and details are perfect.
The phone’s night mode can assist to somewhat improve photographs that aren’t very good in the evening or low light. However, the images look good in artificial lighting.
Finally, let’s discuss battery life. There is a 5,000 mAh battery in the Galaxy A36 5G. 45w wired fast charging is supported. A fast charger would have been an excellent addition from the company. While there are more powerful processors in this price bracket, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 on the Oppo F29 puts up a decent everyday performance. Tasks like video calling, media streaming, instant messaging, and web browsing are handled with expertise. The overall browsing experience is smooth, but not as snappy as other smartphones in the segment. On the bright side, this smartphone has a better haptic motor than its rivals.
The Oppo F29 does a decent job of running gaming titles like Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt Legends Unite. There are no frame drops to be seen when you stick to medium graphics and a 60fps frame rate. However, the gameplay takes a significant hit when you move to high graphics. The internal thermal management system of the device is passable. We felt the back panel warm up after 20 minutes of gameplay.
The Android 15-based ColorOS 15 handles the software duties on this smartphone. Oppo’s Android skin takes a lot of inspiration from Apple’s iOS, be it the layout of the notification shade and Quick Settings Menu or the Dynamic Island-like animation around the punch-hole cutout. The AOD style, settings panel, and lock screen effects are also heavily inspired by iOS.

During the review period, our daily tasks on the Oppo F29 included calling, texting, gaming, media streaming, web browsing, and emailing. The smartphone coasted through the day comfortably, hitting the 20% mark after 6 hours of screen time. The 45W power adapter provided in the box takes just over an hour to charge the smartphone.
Oppo F29’s rear camera panel houses a 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. There is no ultrawide sensor in this array, which is a significant miss in this price bracket. A 16MP front-facing camera is nestled inside the punch-hole cutout on the display.
The 50MP primary shooter takes good pictures in outdoor daylight conditions. The images flaunt natural colours and pack a lot of details. If you like balanced colours and images that do justice to the scene in front of you, this camera will be right up your alley. Images taken in limited lighting conditions are dim and noisy. The Night Mode brightens up the subject, but it often leads to overexposed images.
