The panel comes with a local peak brightness of 5,000 nits and has a P3 wide color gamut. In-display optical fingerprint sensor is also available for biometrics. The cover glass is upgraded from Schott α to Schott core. The phone is driven by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset with up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The smartphone operates on Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15. The smartphone packs Google Gemini features, including the Gemini Live, AI captioned and AI smart call assistant and more.

For the photos and videos, the Vivo V60 has a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50 MP (Sony IMX766) ZEISS OIS Main Camera, an 8 MP ZEISS Ultra Wide-Angle Camera and a 50 MP (Sony IMX882 Sensor) ZEISS Super Telephoto Camera with Optical Image Stabilisation, 3x Optical Zoom and up to 100x Telephoto Zoom. In terms of selfies, there is a 50 MP front-facing camera with autofocus. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording.

Oppo’s new budget tablet is designed for users looking to elevate their media viewing experience. If you’re the kind of person who binge-watches TV shows and other media content on your phone, you might want to check this tablet out. Its 11-inch IPS LCD panel and quad speaker setup offer an immediate upgrade over the viewing experience on an average smartphone. The Pad SE fetches a modest Rs 14,000. The Oppo Pad SE has the form factor of a traditional tablet. Its 16:10 aspect ratio favours the landscape orientation. The aluminium chassis gives the tablet a nice in-hand feel and keeps away smudges and fingerprints. The back panel has a matte finish. The upper band on this back panel has a darker shade than the rest of the body. The finish on this band is coarser than the lower section. It houses a circular camera cutout with a lone 5MP primary shooter.

The quad speaker setup is positioned on the vertical edges of the aluminium frame. The left edge houses the power button, while the primary microphone is positioned on the right. The volume rocker and the noise-cancelling microphone are placed on the top edge. The bottom edge is completely buttonless. We used the WiFi model of the Oppo Pad SE for this review, so our unit did not have a SIM tray.

The 11-inch IPS LCD panel has a 90Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of 500 nits while playing HDR content. The touch response offered by this display is smooth and fluid. The brightness level is optimum for indoor use, but falls slightly short when you take the tablet outside under harsh sunlight. The bezels surrounding the display are thick but uniform. We prefer thick bezels on tablets as they limit accidental touches while holding the device.

One of the biggest assets of the Oppo Pad SE is its viewing experience. The 1,200 x 1,920p display produces detailed visuals. The images pack vibrant colours. The LCD panel may not produce the deep blacks that are found in its AMOLED counterparts, but the media streaming experience is still top-notch. The quad speaker setup produces a good audio output. It may not be loud enough to fill the room, but it is well-rounded and has a good low end.

In order to keep the price of the tablet in check, Oppo has made a few tradeoffs. To begin with, the Pad SE does not ship with a power adapter in the box. The 45W SuperVOOC costs an additional Rs 499 on the Oppo Store. The lack of a fingerprint sensor is another big miss. Your unlocking options on this tablet are limited to Screen Lock (PIN, pattern, and password) and Face Unlock.

Oppo Pad SE Review: Performance and Cameras

The Oppo Pad SE is powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 SoC. This chipset is built on a 6nm process. The tablet is available in 3 RAM (LPDDR4X) options with a fixed 128GB internal storage (UFS 2.2):

Here’s how the tablet performed in Geekbench 6 and AnTuTu benchmark tests:

MediaTek Helio G100 is a decent processor for handling routine tasks. During the review period, we used the Oppo Pad SE for tasks like media streaming, video calling, web browsing, emailing, and writing. The tablet managed these tasks without throwing any hiccups our way. It was able to juggle multiple apps without breaking a sweat. If you’re a casual user, you don’t really need more power than what the tablet already provides.

The gaming performance of the Oppo Pad SE leaves more to be desired. The MediaTek Helio G100 chipset falls short of power while handling high FPS gaming. We came across a few stutters and frame drops while playing Call of Duty Mobile at high graphics. Titles like Subway Surfers and Candy Crush Saga did not present any such problems. If playing first-person shooter games is a non-negotiable priority of yours, there are better and more powerful tablets out there for you.

Oppo Pad SE Review: Performance and Cameras

The Oppo Pad SE runs the Android 15-based ColorOS 15 out of the box. Oppo has done a good job of adapting its custom Android skin for its tablets. The option to move the navigation controls to either side of the screen is a nice touch. The taskbar is one of our favourite things about this device. You can switch to any recent app or document with just one tap. Dragging an app from the taskbar to the screen opens up in the multi-window view. Using two apps at once is a very seamless process. We used the Pad SE to watch a football game while following its match thread on Reddit at the same time. The tablet managed our multitasking demands without any lag or hiccup. What seals the deal on the software experience is the lack of bloatware apps (except for Netflix).

Even though it is a budget tablet, the Oppo Pad SE is equipped with basic AI features. You can use the photo editor in the native gallery app to erase unwanted objects from your pictures, unblur a subject, enhance the clarity, and remove annoying reflections. The Documents app uses AI to summarise, translate, and more content into your files. Google’s Gemini AI does a good job as the voice assistant on this device.

The massive 9,340mAh battery pack on this tablet can last multiple days. With 3-4 hours of screen time, we were able to get 2 solid days of battery life out of this tablet. While binge-watching Netflix, we had to connect the charger before the end of the day. This tablet also has a ‘Smart power saving mode’ that puts it to sleep when you haven’t used it in a long time. Oppo claims that this tablet can last 800 days in this mode. The battery pack supports 33W wired charging and takes 2 hours to fully charge.

The rear camera panel on the Pad SE houses a 5MP primary shooter. This camera takes decent pictures in outdoor daylight conditions. The images are visibly soft but showcase natural tones. In limited lighting conditions, the images captured by this camera are dim and grainy. The 5MP front-facing camera does a good job on video calls and virtual meetings. However, the selfies taken by this sensor are very soft. We recommend sticking to your smartphone for your photography needs.

Verdict

The Oppo Pad SE is a great budget tablet for casual users whose primary tasks involve media streaming and web browsing. Its bright, 11-inch display has a splendid touch response and is a delight to use. The MediaTek Helio G100 processor is able to meet multitasking demands with ease. The software experience offered by this tablet is impeccable. You also get a bunch of useful AI features to go along with the clean, bloatware-free software. The 9,340mAh battery pack can last up to 2 days of regular usage. The cameras on this device fail to impress, but this isn’t a dealbreaker for us. The Oppo Pad SE fulfils our primary expectations from a tablet in the sub-Rs 15,000 price bracket.

India’s smartphone market inched forward in the first half of 2025, with shipments touching 70 million units and registering just 0.9% year-over-year growth, according to IDC’s latest Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. The rebound, after two sluggish quarters, was helped by a lively second quarter that saw 37 million units shipped, a 7.3% YoY jump, but analysts warn the momentum may not last.

Premium segments shine while budget phones struggle

Average selling prices (ASPs) climbed to an all-time high of $275 (around Rs 23,000) in Q2 2025, up 10.8% from last year. The premium (US$600–US$800) category was the fastest-growing, surging 96.4% YoY, thanks to models like the iPhone 16 and Galaxy S25. Meanwhile, the super-premium ($800+) segment grew 15.8%, with Samsung narrowly edging out Apple for the top spot.

The story was very different at the bottom end of the market. While the entry-level segment (sub-$100) grew 22.9% in share to 16%, most budget-friendly Android models struggled to keep pace. The mid-budget ($100–$200) range slipped from 44% to 42% market share, and the entry-premium ($200–$400) segment saw shipments dip 2.5% YoY.

Brand leaders and risers

Vivo held onto its crown for the sixth straight quarter, commanding a balanced presence across segments and channels. Samsung followed closely, driven by new Galaxy A, M, and F series launches that brought AI-powered features to mid-range devices. Oppo’s focus on service accessibility and affordable launches like the K13 helped it secure third place.

Nothing grabbed headlines with a staggering 84.9% YoY shipment growth, followed by iQOO at 68.4%. Apple maintained its upward streak, shipping 5.9 million units in 1H25, a 21.5% YoY increase, with the iPhone 16 emerging as the single highest-shipped model in the country, capturing 4% of all smartphone shipments.

Chipset wars and channel shifts

The processor battlefield saw Qualcomm gaining ground, with shipments up 37.6% YoY and a 33.9% share. MediaTek’s share fell to 44.3% from 56.1% a year earlier, as shipments dropped 15.4%.

Offline sales channels are making a comeback, growing 14.3% YoY to account for 53.6% of shipments in Q2. Aggressive omnichannel strategies, higher retailer margins, and in-store promoters have helped brick-and-mortar retail regain momentum. E-tailers, not to be outdone, have countered with seasonal sales and deep discounts on premium devices.

What lies ahead

IDC projects a low single-digit decline in full-year smartphone shipments for 2025, citing rising ASPs and macroeconomic headwinds. The oversupply in the mid-range segment could create inventory headaches during the festive season, with analysts urging brands to prioritise fresh shipments over heavy discounting of old stock.

While the market’s growth may be modest, the shift toward premium and super-premium devices shows India’s smartphone story is no longer just about affordability. The real battle ahead is convincing the cautious middle-tier buyer to upgrade without waiting for a flash sale.
