WhatsApp Web has now included web calling that allows users to make and receive audio and video calls from their web browser without having to download any app. This accessibility is particularly helpful for users on shared or restricted devices. The capability makes it simple to use from the web interface and can be used for one-on-one or group calls. The feature offers screen sharing, reactions, and a dedicated Calls tab to organise call history and favourite contacts for quick access.
All calls made via this feature are protected with end-to-end encryption, maintaining the privacy and security of regular WhatsApp messaging. The service is free and unlimited in duration, making it an easy and affordable way to stay connected.
Call transfer functionality enables users to transfer an ongoing group call from one device to another without losing the call. The versatility allows users to go from mobile phones or tablets to platforms such as WhatsApp Web or desktop. This capability enables users to join in conversations on bigger displays at home or on journeys, hence bettering collaboration among users.

WhatsApp’s new Waiting Room feature for calls gives you more control over who may join group calls. This feature lets participants stay in a dedicated waiting area until they are approved to join the call. To activate the waiting room, users should choose the “Require approval to join” option when creating the call link. This is to enhance the flow of the organisation during calls by controlling who enters and participates to create a more secure and organised communication environment.

QuickHD enhances the video calling experience by providing high-definition video in the early moments of a conversation so the call starts out with a higher visual quality.
