Apple users, update your devices now: CERT-In alerts users about serious vulnerabilities

The alert acts as a reminder that, in the digital age, devices must be updated.

Apple users have received a warning from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) over a number of security flaws in their product ecosystem. In order to reduce potential risks, the team advises updating devices right now.

Apple users are being advised to install the most recent security updates to iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, and macOS 15.6 in order to patch significant vulnerabilities and stop active attacks, according to a high-severity alert released by India’s cybersecurity organisation, CERT-In. Several security vulnerabilities that impact iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches are highlighted in the warning. Users should upgrade their devices right away to prevent any dangers related to these vulnerabilities, according to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).

What Apple products are at risk?

CERT-In claims to have discovered vulnerabilities in Macs, iPhones, iPads, Watches, and visionOS devices that are especially worrisome for users using outdated software. Versions of macOS older than Sequoia 15.6, Sonoma 14.7.7, or Ventura 13.7.7, iOS versions prior to 18.6, iPads prior to iPadOS 17.7.9/18.6, Apple Watch running watchOS versions prior to 11.6, and Apple TV and Vision Pro devices running tvOS or visionOS prior to 18.6/2.6 are among the impacted versions.

What are the possible risks?

Technical vulnerabilities such as buffer overflows, use-after-free problems, wrong input validation, and logic errors, the warning states, may enable attackers to obtain unauthorised access, run arbitrary code, take away or change confidential information, escalate privileges, or initiate denial-of-service attacks. With carefully constructed requests or data, these dangers may be remotely exploited.
