Apple Event: Here is all the latest buzz around the upcoming iPhone 17 Series

iPhone 17 Series is coming next month.

Apple’s official announcement of the Awe Dropping event date has fuelled speculation regarding the next iPhone 17 series, with leaks and hints appearing widely. All four versions, including the normal iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, are likely to get significant enhancements. According to rumours, an ultra-thin “iPhone 17 Air” would replace the Plus-sized variety, while Pro variants will have reverse wireless charging for AirPods and Apple Watch accessories. The series is rumoured to include a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, with 48-megapixel back sensors for the Pro and Pro Max variants. Rumours also point to an aluminium frame for Pro versions, a greater camera bump, and the introduction of ProMotion display technology with a 120Hz refresh rate.

What to expect?

Rumour mills suggest that the pre-order window is likely to open on September 12, with the iPhone 17 devices expected to be available in stores starting on September 19.

However, Apple has yet to announce, but according to recent whispers and sources, the company will debut four iPhone 17 models this time: the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Air, which will replace the Plus variation, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Tipster Instant Digital claimed a $50 price increase for the iPhone 17 Pro, bringing it to about $1,049 in the United States. The iPhone 17 Pro is projected to be released in India at a base price of Rs 1,24,900, up from the current base price of Rs 1,19,900 for the iPhone 16 Pro. According to reports, all iPhone 17 series models may face a $50 price increase owing to US trade conflicts with China and rising component prices. With the debut just a month away, it’s unclear if Apple will boost pricing soon enough.

The iPhone 16 Pro’s 128GB storage model begins at $999 in the United States, presumably indicating an upgrade for consumers. The iPhone 17 Pro will have a basic storage capacity of 256GB, up from the current 128GB model. This is comparable to the Pro Max model, which saw a boost in basic storage capacity with the iPhone 15 Pro Max in 2023. Last year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max also had 256GB of storage.

The regular iPhone 17 is speculated to have a big display update. It is believed to finally have ProMotion technology with a 120Hz refresh rate, which was previously reserved for Pro versions. The screen size may increase to 6.3 inches, mirroring that of the iPhone 17 Pro. The gadget is expected to be powered by the A19 processor, which will provide increased performance and efficiency.

The iPhone 17 Air, which is rumoured to replace the Plus model, is believed to sport an ultra-thin design, maybe as thin as 5.5-6mm. It has a 6.6-inch display, which falls between the normal iPhone and the Pro Max.

The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have been deemed to include a rectangular camera bar (which might replace the traditional square bump), 48-megapixel rear lenses, a mechanical aperture for depth of field control, and reverse wireless charging capabilities. The phone may also have an LED light and a LiDAR scanner with its own LED light.

The Pro and Pro Max are also assumed to be the first iPhones with a mechanical aperture for the main camera. The camera system is likely to be revamped, with all three back lenses boosted to 48-megapixel resolution.

The standard iPhone 17 is anticipated to maintain its dual-lens back camera system (Wide and Ultra Wide), but it will also gain the new 24-megapixel front-facing camera, which is rumoured to be standard throughout the whole range.

To accomplish its slim profile, “Air” may rely on a single 48-megapixel back camera and an A19 chip. The iPhone 17 Air may include 12GB of RAM, which is higher than the basic model.

The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are rumoured to have advanced features such a new A19 Pro CPU and 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB.

The Pro variants are also likely to include a bigger battery and a more advanced vapour chamber cooling system that provides greater thermal performance.

The forthcoming range is also rumoured to feature Wi-Fi 7, with the iPhone 17 Air possibly including Apple’s own 5G modem, while other versions are expected to utilise Qualcomm’s.
