Samsung launched Exynos 1680 CPU with a tri-cluster design, 200-megapixel camera support

The new Samsung chipset supports a high refresh rate.

Samsung has unveiled the Exynos 1680 chipset, which is manufactured using 4nm technology and has a tri-cluster octa-core CPU and an Xclipse 550 GPU based on AMD RDNA 3, which improves GPU performance by 16%. This chipset has an improved NPU capable of 19.6 trillion operations per second. It supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, as well as advanced features including a 200-megapixel camera and 144Hz display. It also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 6.1 connections.

Specifications

The Exynos 1680 chipset is designed to power sophisticated applications in artificial intelligence (AI), networking, and mobile technologies. It uses cutting-edge 4nm process technology, which improves efficiency and performance. The chipset has an octa-core CPU design, with a CA720 core clocked at 2.9GHz, four further CA720 cores at 2.6GHz, and three CA520 cores at 1.95GHz. Furthermore, the Exynos 1680 is packed with the Samsung Xclipse 550 GPU, which considerably improves its graphics processing capabilities, making it ideal for demanding mobile and AI tasks.

In terms of artificial intelligence, the Exynos 1680 chipset has a specialised AI engine with an 8K MAC Neural Processing Unit. This setup aims to enhance the processing capability of AI technology-based apps. The chipset also supports LPDDR5X memory, which allows for fast data processing, and UFS 4.1 for storage, which facilitates speedy data transfer and improves overall performance. Together, these components help the Exynos 1680 power powerful AI-driven applications.

The Exynos 1680 has amazing display capabilities, enabling a Full HD Plus (FHD+) resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz, which corresponds to the needs of high-definition visuals. It has a strong camera arrangement for photography, with a single back camera that can take pictures at a maximum resolution of 200MP. It also has many options, such as a 64MP camera that can shoot at 30 frames per second and a setup with two 32MP cameras, which shows how powerful its image capabilities are.

Video playback can handle 4K quality at 60 frames per second and several codecs, including HEVC (H.265), H.264, VP9, and VP8, facilitating versatile media handling. Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.1, and GNSS for location services are all ways to connect. The modem is advanced with 5G NR FR1, delivering download rates of 5.1Gbps and upload speeds of 1.28Gbps. 5G NR FR2 has download speeds of 4.84Gbps and upload speeds of 0.92Gbps. It also has LTE capability, with download rates of 1.2Gbps and upload speeds of 211Mbps.
