What is Connections?
After Wordle, Connections is the New York Times’ most popular word game. The rules are simple. You need to find words with a common theme and group them into 4 groups of 4. The 16-word grid is designed with an increasing level of difficulty. The Yellow group is the easiest to spot, followed by Green, Blue, and Purple. The misdirects and red herrings can trip you up, but they also make the puzzle more fun. You can play Connections in the NYT Games app or on the NYT website.

Answers to NYT Connections (#1,118) Today (July 8, 2026)
Close to waving the white flag? Fine, we’ll give you the answers.
- 🟡Yellow Group: Bliss, Felicity, Happiness, Warm Fuzzies. (Positive Feelings)
Today’s Yellow group was pretty straightforward. All these words are used to refer to the feeling of elation.
- 🟢Green Group: Cool Beans, Far Out, Groovy, Right On. (Retro Expressions Of Approval)
The green group was not considerably tougher than the Yellow group, although there was a red herring that may have stumped Connectors. ‘Cool’, ‘Warm’, ‘Cold’, and ‘Hot’ are indicators of temperature, but those words did not form a group in today’s puzzle.
- 🔵Blue Group: Cold Shoulder, Dirty Look, Hard Time, Runaround. (Bad Things To Give Someone)
Again, a relatively easier Blue group than what we’re used to seeing. These words refer to different kinds of bad behaviour.
- 🟣Purple Group: Golf Accessory, Gossip, Hot Drink, Shirt. (What Things Pronounced ‘T’ Might Refer To)
Golf – Tee. Gossip – Tea. Hot Drink – Tea. Shirt – T-shirt.
Answers to yesterday’s puzzle (#1,117, July 2, 2026)
