Features and Specifications
The Nothing Ear (3a) comes with a 12mm dynamic driver that has an impedance of 32 ohms and a frequency response from 20Hz to 40,000Hz. It uses a PMI and TPU diaphragm to improve the sound quality. The earphones are LDAC Hi-Res Wireless certified and offer Static Spatial Audio. Furthermore, users can customise sound with Custom EQ and Advanced EQ settings and share profiles via the Nothing X app. The charging case has LED indicators to show the remaining battery level, and the earphones and case are both rated IP54 for dust and water resistance.
The Nothing Ear (3a) earbuds also come with Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that can reduce noise by up to 45dB in the 40Hz to 5,000Hz frequency range. To boost the audio quality, there are three microphones in each earbud, so six microphones in total. Other features include Transparency Mode and environmental noise cancellation for regular phone calls.
Both earbuds are backed by a 55mAh battery each, and the charging case has a 500mAh battery capacity. The playback specs are up to 10 hours of listening time with ANC off using the AAC codec and up to 42 hours when paired with the charging case. With ANC turned on, you can get around 6 hours of listening and up to 25 hours with the case. You can listen for 6 hours without ANC and 4.5 hours with it on when using LDAC. The charging case has a USB Type-C connection, takes about 70 minutes to fully charge, and enables fast charging; specifically, five minutes of charging will provide up to one hour of playback with ANC off, and 10 minutes will supply up to 10 hours of playback with ANC off.
The Nothing Ear (3a) is compatible with Android smartphones that run Android 8.0 or later, as well as iOS devices that run iOS 13 or later. They also support Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, making it easier to connect. One of the defining features is the low-latency mode, which optimises audio performance. These earphones come with Bluetooth 6.0 technology, which has a connectivity range of up to 15 metres and can connect to two devices at the same time.

The Nothing Ear (3a) supports multiple codecs for audio playback, including SBC, AAC and LDAC, for high-quality audio transmission. The Nothing X companion app lets users upgrade firmware, find earbuds with the Find My Earbuds feature, and share custom EQ settings. Users can additionally customise their experience with easy pinch gestures for playback control, call management, track navigation, volume adjustments, and noise control.
A new feature called Audio Snapshot lets users simply record short audio clips with gestures or capture audio from the last 30 seconds. The recorded clips can be accessed and shared on the app Nothing X. The earphones also can record calls, which adds to the user functionality.
