BGMI Ocean Odyssey Is Returning to Erangel on September 30 With the 4.6 Update

The BGMI Ocean Odyssey release date is finally locked in, and Erangel is about to get very wet again. KRAFTON India confirmed on September 10, 2026, that the underwater theme mode, last seen sending players diving into a sunken palace guarded by a genuinely grumpy Kraken, will return as part of Battlegrounds Mobile India’s 4.6 update. Mark September 30 on your calendar, because that is when the ocean reopens, and it stays playable on Erangel all the way through November 16.

What’s Actually Coming Back

Ocean Odyssey drops players straight into the Ocean Palace, a submerged ancient kingdom hidden beneath Erangel’s waves. A Sea Suppressor barrier keeps the palace dry enough to walk around in like normal ground, right up until it fails and the whole structure starts flooding, turning a leisurely loot run into a frantic swim for the exit. At the center of it all sits the Trident, a legendary weapon capable of firing off water sprouts that fling opponents across the battlefield, which is a delightful way to end someone’s game. Guarding it is the Kraken, a boss fight that has sent more than a few overconfident squads swimming back to dry land empty-handed.

Beyond the palace walls, the Forsaken Ruins hide a separate stash of loot that does not show up anywhere else on the map, giving treasure hunters a reason to detour even if they want nothing to do with an angry sea monster. The mode runs exclusively on Erangel from September 30 through November 16, which gives players roughly seven weeks to make peace with the Kraken or avoid it entirely.

A Comeback KRAFTON Has Made a Habit Of

Earlier in 2026, the studio revived its Egyptian-themed Ancient Secret mode as a reworked Ancient Secret Arise, complete with a new Sand Giant boss and a floating Emperor Temple, before eventually retiring it again in favour of a mythology-inspired Hero’s Crown update. The BGMI 4.6 update leans on a similar playbook, mixing fan favourite modes with pop culture collaborations to keep the ranked grind interesting, and a One Punch Man crossover is also expected to land around the same window.

The approach mirrors what the BGMI 4.5 update did earlier this year with its Naruto-themed overhaul of Erangel and Livik, which briefly turned the battle royale map into a passable Hidden Leaf Village stand-in. Rather than chasing something brand new every single cycle, KRAFTON increasingly seems happy to reopen worlds its community never really stopped talking about.

Ocean Odyssey originally showed up on the global build of the game in mid 2024 before eventually making its way over to the Indian version. Anyone who joined BGMI after that run ended will be walking into the Ocean Palace for the very first time.
