Instagram users may now choose who has the ability to change their nicknames on the app. By ending automatic feed refreshes and using filters to categorise message requests in direct messages, the implementation expands on current developments. In addition to allowing users to share live locations with others via DMs, the social media platform has unveiled 17 sticker sets with over 300 stickers for chats.
The company via blog post said, “Whether it’s sharing your mood or finding time to catch up IRL, we’re introducing new features to help you connect with friends in your DMs. With 17 new sticker packs, an updated DM sticker tray, nicknames for you and your crew, and location sharing to make hangouts easier.”

There are more than 300 stickers to share and 17 pack options for new stickers in DMs. In order to reuse stickers made by friends or cutouts made by others, users may now like stickers from their chats. The purpose of this function is to capture feelings and reactions in direct messages (DMs).
By adding nicknames for themselves or other people, Instagram users may now personalise names across direct messages. Nicknames are not added to your username anywhere else on Instagram; they only show up in DMs. You have complete control over who may modify your moniker in a chat. You can change your nickname so that only you can edit it, but by default, it is set to the people you follow. To create a nickname, tap on the chat name at the top of your conversation and select Nicknames and the username of the person you want to add a nickname for.
To spend more time together with your friends, you may pin a location on a map or share your real-time position in your direct messages for up to an hour. This will help you find each other in congested areas and plan activities and arrival times.

Sharing one’s live location is a private function that may only be used in 1:1 or group chats via private direct messages. It is off by default and expires in one hour. Your location cannot be shared with other chats and is only visible to individuals in that particular chat. You are reminded not to share your location via an indication at the top of the chat window. Location sharing is currently only available in select countries.
