Fresh leaks suggest that the next ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event is scheduled to take place on January 22, 2025. At this event, Samsung will put out its three flagship smartphones – Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and the specced-out Galaxy S25 Ultra. For Samsung fans and smartphone enthusiasts, this is one of the biggest tech events of the year. So, let’s talk about what you can expect from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Design, Display, Price, and more

According to the newest design leaks, Samsung is set to tweak the Galaxy S25’s form factor. While the Galaxy S24 Ultra had a curved frame, the S25 Ultra will ditch it for flat rails. It’ll have an 8.4mm thickness, making it the slimmest Ultra variant yet. The sharp corners will be rounded off to make the device easy to hold. This design aesthetic leans into the ‘slab’ form factor that the Ultra variant of the Galaxy S series has carved out for itself over the years.

The design leaks also point towards 7 colour options for the S25 Ultra – Titanium Black, Titanium SilverBlue, Titanium Gray, Titanium WhiteSilver, Titanium JetBlack, Titanium JadeGreen, and Titanium PinkGold. Some of these colour variants will be exclusively available on Samsung’s e-store.

This year, Samsung chose to go with a flat display on the Ultra model of the Galaxy S24 series – a change that was welcomed by users and critics alike. The South Korean tech giant will retain the flat panel on the upcoming S25 Ultra. This display will be a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x unit with a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung may increase its peak brightness from 2,600 nits to ~3,000 nits.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Over the years, Samsung has launched its entry-level S series variants with the Exynos chipset in certain markets. This year’s Galaxy S24 and S24+ models outside of the US, Canada, and China packed the Exynos 2400 SoC. However, the Ultra variant always sticks to the flagship Qualcomm processor of the year. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. We’ve already tested this processor on the new iQOO 13, so make sure you read our review to know more about its day-to-day performance.

The S25 Ultra’s rear camera panel will likely rock a new and updated ultrawide sensor. The 12MP unit will be replaced by a 50MP sensor. The 50MP periscope telephoto lens (with 5x optical zoom), 10MP telephoto lens (with 3x optical zoom), and the stellar 200MP primary shooter will be carried forward without any changes.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

Unlike other major Android OEMs, Samsung has not launched its Android 15-based OS skin yet. The One UI 7 OS will make its debut on the Galaxy S24 Series. The Beta version of the mobile OS has been out for a few weeks and it holds a lot of promise. Samsung has redesigned the Quick Settings Menu layout on its latest OS, bringing it closer to its Apple counterpart in iOS. The tech giant will add some new AI features to the OS upon its official release.

Price hikes in smartphones are all too common these days, but we don’t expect a sharp increase in the cost of the S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 Ultra was launched at a starting price of Rs 1,29,999 in January 2024. The top-spec (12GB RAM + 1TB Storage) variant was priced at Rs 1,59,999. We expect the prices for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to start at Rs 1,29,999 as well.
