Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone is speculated to be called iPhone Duo and may include dual back cameras; however, Apple has not officially confirmed its name. Apple is ready to enter the foldable smartphone space, with a launch set for tonight. The model, perhaps the iPhone Duo/iPhone Ultra, is likely to be the most costly iPhone ever launched, according to a rumour. It is said that it took around 10 years to create.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch with a price tag of more than $2,000, with the initial plan to price it at $1,999 to stay below that mark. There have been recent speculations of a modification in the pricing plan with talks of a new possible price of $2,199 or around Rs 2,09,000. The firm has been looking at other pricing structures because of a lack of RAM and storage chips and rising component prices that have caused changes to the initial pricing plan. Moreover, the greater storage options might bring the price closer to $3,000 (approximately Rs 2,85,000), which is a reflection of the production constraints that affect the entire cost.

The Foldable iPhone recently appeared in a very notable scene in the first episode of Dark Matter Season 2. This has led to speculation that this may be an intentional “soft reveal” ahead of Apple’s highly anticipated hardware unveiling scheduled for September 9, 2026.

iPhone Ultra / iPhone Duo Expected Specifications

The iPhone Ultra or iPhone Duo is said to have a book-style foldable design with a 5.5-inch OLED cover screen and a 7.8-inch OLED inside display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The mid-frame of the gadget has been constructed from structural glass and a circular polariser to reduce the visual creasing of the display. It also has a liquid metal alloy hinge that should help reduce the visibility of wrinkles and a titanium frame for extra durability. The thickness, when opened up, should be roughly 4.5mm, making it Apple’s thinnest gadget to date.

As per rumours, in terms of biometric features, Touch ID will be incorporated into the power button since the size limits of Face ID components do not allow for it. The A20 Pro CPU is based on a 2nm process, so anticipate good performance. There’s also 12GB of RAM. The camera system will have twin 48MP main and ultrawide lenses, with a 24MP front-facing camera hidden beneath the inner display. Battery life will be improved with a dual battery design of about 5,500mAh and a custom Apple C2 5G modem for improved power and cellular connectivity.
