Playing a song or video on repeat may be a pretty basic function on every music streaming app, but YouTube has always had its reservations when it comes to implementing this feature. This is because YouTube generates its revenue primarily through ads. Every page refresh reloads the ads on the video as well but simply looping the video from the website’s media player does not achieve that. It took YouTube years to first introduce looping videos for its desktop site, and the feature only recently made its way to the mobile app. So, without further ado, here are 4 easy ways to loop YouTube videos on Android and iOS.
Here’s how you can use the loop feature on the YouTube app
Step 1: Go to the video on YouTube.
Step 2: Tap the Settings icon on the top right corner of the video window.
Step 3: Tap on ‘Loop video’ and select ‘On’.
Use the YouTube desktop site on your mobile web browser
Step 1: Launch Google Chrome and go to YouTube.
Step 2: Tap the ellipses at the top right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Scroll down and select ‘desktop site’.
Step 4: Long press anywhere on the video and select ‘loop video’.
Loop videos on the YouTube app using Playlists
While the YouTube app may not have a loop option, YouTube playlists certainly do. So if you want to loop a song or video, simply put it in a new playlist by itself and play the playlist on loop.
Step 1: Open the video you want to loop and select ‘Save’.
Step 2: Select ‘New Playlist’. Give the playlist a name.
Step 3: Tap the play icon on the playlist and select the loop option from the playlist menu.
Use a third-party app
Before YouTube introduced the loop videos feature for its app, users had no choice but to download a third-party app if they wanted to listen to a song on repeat. If you’re using an older version of the YouTube app and dont want to update it, this may still be a good option for you. The ‘Listen On Repeat’ app was created for the sole purpose of listening to music on YouTube on repeat. Not only can you loop YouTube videos using this app, but it also automatically saves your recent repeats.
These are the top 4 easy ways to loop YouTube videos on Android or iOS. You can also download a YouTube video on your device and loop it using your smartphone’s media player. While you cannot do this for every video you want to play on repeat, if you find yourself coming back to a video multiple times, you may want to save it locally on your device.
