Google’s June Pixel Drop brings new AI features to Pixel smartphones, including Screen Reactions to capture selfie videos and Gemini Omni for generating videos from text and photos. Users can produce original music by expressing ideas or sharing photographs. It also includes productivity tools like Bubbles for multitasking and improved safety alerts for emergency contacts. Google is also expanding Gemini-powered functionality to more devices and more areas, starting today and rolling out over the coming weeks.
The June Pixel Drop comes with plenty of personalised and useful upgrades, including the release of Android 17 and Wear OS 7, beginning today and continuing over the next few weeks. One of the highlights is the “Screen reactions” function, which enables users to shoot selfie videos on top of a screen recording to make reaction videos. This new tool makes it easier to create personalised instructional and entertaining reaction content. To use this function, users need to go to the Quick Settings menu, choose the recording icon and activate the “Show selfie camera” option. Users also have real-time control of their screen appearance, so they can tap, drag and resize themselves as they’re filming. Overall, these improvements are aimed at making things more interactive and personal for consumers on Pixel smartphones.
Next up is Gemini Omni 2, a multi-purpose video production and editing app for Pixel fans that offers a smooth interactive experience via a natural chat interface. This new platform enables users to combine text, photos and videos to generate high-quality multimedia outputs. Users may create projects from scratch, edit existing content, or use pre-designed templates. In addition, Gemini Omni 2 allows for the generation of custom AI avatars, letting users place themselves in their videos, adding another layer of personalisation and creativity to the video content creation process.

Pixel device users may also produce original music tracks using Gemini 3 music. Here’s how to do it: Tap the Gemini app icon. This opens the Gemini app. Navigate to the tools menu. Then choose the “Create music” option. Input a musical concept or upload a picture to inspire the creation of a high-quality audio track with lyrics. On top of that, you can customise your compositions even more by adjusting many aspects like style, vocals, and tempo, ensuring a personalised music creation experience.
Users may boost their multitasking with the ability to make any app a small floating window. To create a floating window, long-press the app icon on your phone. On the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, these floating windows or bubbles are nicely arranged in a designated bar at the bottom of the screen. Furthermore, it has a one-tap app switching capability that lets you multitask fast, which is excellent for travel, work, or watching tutorials.
Voice Translate is now available on the Pixel 10a, allowing you to translate voice to text during phone calls in real time. This function is under preview and only offers translation between English and Hindi. Open the Phone by Google app, click on ‘Settings’, and download the language models needed to go to Voice Translate. Furthermore, the Quick Share function is now compatible with AirDrop on the Pixel 8a and 9a, improving the ability to share files across devices.

Magic Cue will improve Snapchat messaging with contextual, time-saving recommendations that pop up at the right moment, making things easier for users in chats. Google is also beefing up its call capabilities, including Custom Greetings for the Take a Message feature, so Pixel users can record their own personalised outgoing messages. This innovation aims to enhance the caller’s experience when users are unavailable to respond, providing real-time transcriptions of messages. Manual Call Screen is also now available on Pixel phones in India, letting users screen calls from unknown numbers using Google’s Call Assist, which asks the caller to identify themselves and explain why they’re calling.
Google is also working on adding emergency sharing to its Emergency Detection features, including Car Crash Detection, Fall Detection and Loss of Pulse Detection, to enhance safety. The function provides users with further peace of mind in an emergency by immediately alerting emergency services and notifying specified emergency contacts when it detects critical conditions. Users can customise the alerts by establishing preferences for each detection type to choose who is notified.
