Rumours and leaks about the upcoming iPhone have now become a part of our daily routine and the launch date is close by. Every year in September, Apple launches its new range of iPhones. This year too Apple is all set to launch its latest range of iPhones, iPhone 15. It is expected that the standard models will get a stacked CIS camera upgrade. The launch event of the iPhone is anticipated to be held on 13 September 2023.

Stacked CIS camera

The recent rumour regarding the upcoming iPhone is about its camera. Sources suggest that iPhone 15 and 15 Plus might feature a stacked CMOS that is a Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor image sensor. If this information is accurate then Apple will widen the gap between its standard and Pro model as this feature will reportedly be absent from iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

Stacked CIS technology is a recent technological advancement that involves adding additional extra layers above the photodiode layer. These added layers enhance photo quality and provide additional benefits such as noise reduction, brighter image rendering, detailed capturing and superior image processing. It is also possible that the standard models get a substantial upgrade from 12MP to a 48MP image sensor. If these rumours about the camera quality of standard models of iPhone 15 are true then iPhone users are going to experience enhanced photography and videography.
