Today, Acer announced its new Swift 7 laptop. The speciality of the gadget is that it is extremely slim and light, it weighs less than a kilo at 890 grams. The notebook has a new premium chassis that expands the screen length and its bezels are so narrow that, as the company claims, makes it “virtually borderless.” The device was made by Acer in collaboration with Intel.

The Acer Swift 7 is powered by the 8th Gen Intel Core processors. Chris Walker, the Vice President of Client Computing at Intel said, “We designed the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors to deliver a complete platform with the performance to enable rich user experiences and the power efficiency to extend battery life, all in a fanless design. It is exciting to collaborate with Acer on the innovation displayed on the new Acer Swift 7.”

The Acer Swift 7’s display is of 14-inches and its screen-to-body ratio is 92%. The dimensions of the laptop are 317.9mm W x 191.5mm D. The compactness of this device is owed to its four-side narrow bezel design which measures up to 2.57mm. Hou, General Manager, Consumer Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. said, “With a striking screen-to-body ratio of an incredible 92 percent, Acer customers can stay more productive with a compact, thinner and lighter notebook that feels ‘barely there’ while carrying it around through the day and during business travel.”

Besides being slim and lightweight, the Acer Swift 7 is quite durable. It is made up of magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminium alloys. These materials are two to four times stronger than standard aluminium alloys at the same thickness, yet are lighter by up to 20 to 35 percent. This ensures that the laptop weighs under 1kg. Plus, the product is extra-durable because it is layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The device would be available in few configurations including 8GB RAM and 16GB RAM with internal storage up to 256GB and 512GB respectively.

The Acer Swift 7 will launch in North America during May starting at 1,699$; in EMCA in April at a cost of 1,799 Euros, and during the same month in China, purchasable at 14,999 Yuan. Indian availability is still not out yet.
