The Taiwan based electronics major Acers has expanded its laptops portfolio by launching new Acer Swift 5 laptops at the Next@ Acer 2020 event. The laptop is powered by the 11th gen Intel processor with Xe graphics. The device is an ultrathin-and-light notebook. The display is touch-enabled surrounded by ultra-narrow bezels. It is touted to last up to four hours with just 30 minutes of charge.

The Acer Swift 5 comes with a 14.5 inch full HD PS touchscreen display supported by multi-finger gestures. It features 300 nits brightness1, covers 72% of the NTSC gamut, a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio surrounded by four ultra-narrow bezels perfect for watching movies. The Notebook will be available in two colour options mist green or safari gold, both with gold accents. It has a high-grade magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminium chassis. Underneath it, there is a next-gen Intel Core processor with powerful integrated graphics based on Intel’s new Xe architecture and optional NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPUs. It can run multiple applications at once, and 1 TB of high-speed PCle SSD storage on top of up to 16 GB LPDDRAX ensures that they load quickly. According to the company, the users working in the office or on a conference call will be able to control how much sound the device makes by alternating between three cooling modes: silent, normal, or performance.
The company has covered the display with a layer of Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass that is stated to reduce the growth of odour and stain-causing microorganisms on the touch display. In addition to this Acer also gives an option to further include an antimicrobial coating on the touchpad, keyboard and all covers of the device.
Acer Swift 5 comes with a 56 Wh battery that is touted to last all day and with a30 minutes charge it can last for 4 hours. For connectivity, there is USB Type-C, Thunderbolt and USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, in addition to dual-band Intel Wi-Fi 6 (GIG+) and Bluetooth 5.0. For security Swift 5 is also equipped with an embedded fingerprint reader for Windows Hello. It also supports Wake on Voice, enabling users to activate and query Windows 10 even when the screen is off.

At the moment Acer Swift 5 will be available in October in North America at USD 999.99(approx Rs 75,719), in EMEA at EUR 1,099(approx Rs 94,145) and in China at RMB 6,999 (approx Rs 74,950). The company says that the exact specifications, prices, and availability will vary by region.
