Apple traditionally launches its next-generation iPhone series in the first week of September. But this time, we came across so many reports suggesting that the company has delayed the launch of its upcoming Apple iPhone 12 series to October, amid coronavirus. The pandemic has affected the production and the supply of iPhones. But as we have passed the first week of September, a statement has emerged claiming the iPhone 12 event might happen later this week.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who has predicted about the company’s new development and stated that the upcoming Apple iPhone launch might be hosted this week only. His tweet reveals that the launch is expected to take place virtually. For your information, this tweet was in response to the famous tipster Jon Prosser. According to the tipster the company has planned a press release for September 8 that is on Tuesday at 9 am ET and 6 PM IST.
Tipster Jon Prosser tweet reads, “Apple press release is currently scheduled for Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00 am EST — though, I should note that it’s not locked in until the press has been briefed, day of. I’ll tweet early that morning to update you if it changes.”
To this tweet, Mark Gurman responded with this tweet, “I wouldn’t get too excited about rumours of new Apple products appearing this week. More likely I think: an announcement of the upcoming (of course virtual) September iPhone/Apple Watch event.”
The threads of tweets suggest the new Apple Watch and iPad models alongside the iPhone 12 series will come to life this week.
To contradict, Apple during an earnings call with investors confirmed a delay in the iPhone 12 launch. Apple’s CFO Luca Maestri said, “Last year we started selling new iPhones in late September. This year, we project the supply to be available a few weeks later.” This statement refers to the new iPhone series which before the company confirmed Qualcomm also suggested a delay in the launch of the upcoming iPhone models in its earning report. Qualcomm CFO Akash Palkhiwala stated, “a slight delay that pushes some of the units out from the September quarter to the December quarter for us.” However, he did not mention the name but it is not hard to predict that its statement refers to the new iPhone models which are expected to come with 5G capabilities this time.
Both Qualcomm and Apple have settled their patent dispute last year and this year the company will be offering 5G support to its upcoming 2020 models which are tipped to include sub-6GHz 5G. While the top-end models that are iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are both supposed to bring millimetre wave (mmWave) 5G technology while also speculated to be costlier than the existing models.
Coming back to the speculated virtual launch event, the company is expected to unveil its sixth generation of Apple Watch Series, latest iPad, Apple TV, latest HomePod and more alongside the 2020 iPhone models.
