After teasing OnePlus 8T for more than 24 hours in India. The company has officially confirmed the launch date for its upcoming smartphone. The launch is now set for October 14 in the country. This came just after the release of the Amazon teaser. The company’s ‘T’ series of smartphones is an upgrade over its current flagship with new features and design changes. The device is usually launched in September but Coronavirus has caused some production issues so the company has to delay the launch of the device, just like the iPhone 12.
OnePlus 8T launch details for India
The launch of the OnePlus 8T in India is set for October 14. This has been announced through the Amazon created a microsite to tease the availability of the upcoming phone. The launch will take place through a virtual launch event that will kick off at 7.30 PM that is going to be live-streamed via the company’s official website including social media accounts via its official YouTube channel in the country.
As the e-commerce website teases the online availability of the OnePlus 8T it is confirmed that the phone will be available for purchase via Amazon only.
OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau said in his statement said, “With the upcoming OnePlus 8T, we are once again raising the bar for ourselves in terms of the overall user experience, thanks to some new features that we are excited to introduce for the first time in a OnePlus device. I am confident that the OnePlus 8T will once again exceed expectations and deliver an unparalleled flagship experience.”
While a previous report by a tipster last week also hinted that the OnePlus 8T launch might have been delayed to later this month or for October 14. According to the tipster, the production issues caused by pandemic coronavirus forced the company to delay the launch. For quite a few years the company has been following a similar timeline to launch its T series of flagship devices. To recall OnePlus 7T was also launched on September 26 last year but not this time all thanks to the pandemic.
OnePlus 8T expected specifications
Reports suggest that OnePlus 8T is expected to come with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a higher refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone will have two modes to choose from — 60Hz and 120Hz — with the latter selected out of the box.
The device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC for its best performance coupled with 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. On the software front, the phone will run on the OxygenOS 11 built on the latest Android 11.
On the imaging front, it is suggested to be upgraded to a quad-camera setup from the triple camera set up on the existing model. There will be a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a secondary 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. While on the front it is expected to have a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Moreover, it might have a 4,500mAh battery with 65W Wrap Charge fast charging tech.
