Google I/O 2022: Google Pixel 6a with Tensor processor and a Titan M2 security coprocessor announced

The Google Pixel 6a has officially been announced at Google I/O 2022. It has the same Google sensor and many of the features as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Google Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch display that supports always-on functionality. Moreover, it will receive a minimum of five years of security updates. The newly arrived Pixel phone is said to have 24 hours of battery life.

The Google Pixel 6a costs $449 which translates to Rs 34,800. The smartphone will be available for pre-order in the United States on July 21. It will come in three colour options of Chalk, Charcoal, and Sage. The Pixel 6a has yet to be priced and made available in other markets, including India. However, Google has confirmed that the Pixel 6a will arrive in India later this year.

The Google Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED display with 1,080 x 2,400 pixels of resolution. The screen comes with an aspect ratio of 20:9, a 60Hz refresh rate and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone runs on Android 12 out of the box and is said to receive five years of security updates from when the device first becomes available. And as with other Pixel devices, Pixel 6a will be among the first Android devices to receive the upcoming Android 13 update. It is equipped with a Google Tensor SoC and a Titan M2 security coprocessor, as well as 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The Google Pixel 6a features a dual rear camera setup with a 12.2-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera can record 4K video at 30 frames per second. The device further includes an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The front camera can record 1080p video at 30 frames per second.

On the Pixel 6a, Google has included a 4,410mAh battery with fast charging capabilities. It comes with an all-day battery that can last up to 72 hours when in the Extreme Battery Saver mode.

5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C port are among the connectivity options. An accelerometer, ambient light, barometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor, as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication, are among the sensors onboard. Pixel 6a comes with the same highly accurate speech recognition as Pixel 6 Pro. That includes features like Recorder, Live Caption and Live Translate.
