Just like the TrueCaller app, Google is now prepping up to bring its own caller ID app in India. The app will soon be available to Android users with a revamped look and is likely to be known as Google Call. The calling app has been spotted via a YouTube ad, however, is not available for download on the Play Store. As we said it will come in a new avatar having a new logo. The app will let the user know who is calling if the caller’s contact is not saved on their device.
Those who are unaware of a caller ID feature called Phone by Google app which is available on Play Store. Now the company is going to launch a rebrand of the app for Indian users and that has been spotted by a Redditt user. The calling feature is now being advertised via YouTube with a new name Google Call with a brand new logo. The company aims to compete with the TrueCaller app which has got immense popularity in India to avoid scam calls
The Google call app will come with some of the important features. As per the 9to5google report, the app will include a caller ID feature so that the user could know about the caller’s details. The publisher has also shared a screenshot confirming the presence and name of the app however Google is yet to officially reveal its upcoming application or the new changes made to the existing app.
Taking a fast recap Google in September announced a new feature called Verified Calls in the Phone app. The feature is going to identify calls from genuine business numbers in order to deal with phone fraud which is a very serious issue in India as well as across the globe. The Verified calls feature will show the identity of the caller along with the reason for the call.
As we said before, the Phone app is available on Google Play Store and it also comes pre-loaded on most phones. Google in its blog post said, “For instance, banks calling to alert a customer about a possible fraudulent transaction can increase answer rates by stating the call reason. A food delivery or logistics company can do the same to make sure customers are available to receive their deliveries.”
