Huawei Mate 40 series is all set to launch today. The new line-up will include three phones – Huawei Mate 40, Huawei Mate 40 Pro, and Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ that are going to debut in the Chinese market. Ahead of the launch, the device has been part of the rumour mills and the Pro model’s leaked in renders pointed out at a dual selfie camera and a quad rear camera setup. Moreover, Huawei’s upcoming flagship line-up of phones are supposed to have a round trim around the rear cameras that doubles as a touch display. This is said to be the company’s intuitive circular touch display around the quad rear camera setup. To recall this smartphone series is a follow up of Huawei Mate 30 series.

According to a report Huawei Mate 40 Pro is suggested to feature a curved waterfall display and will be powered by the Kirin 9000 processor. While the leaked renders indicated a circular camera array on the back of the phone. It is expected to feature a 6.76-inch OLED display with 2772 x 1344 pixels resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The device is said to have a metal-glass sandwich design with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
The Pro variant reportedly to be powered by an octa-core Kirin 9000 5nm chipset clocked at up to 3.13GHz clock speeds and Mali-G78 MP24 GPU. It might come with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage options to choose from which can be extended up to 256GB using a microSD card. It is likely to run EMUI 11 based Android 10 out of the box.
In terms of cameras, it is speculated to come with a quad-camera setup on the back of the phone including a 50-megapixel primary sensor along with f/1.9 aperture, PDAF and OIS support. While the secondary 12-megapixel telephoto lens will support up to 5x optical zoom, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 3D depth sensor as a fourth camera onboard. On the front, there will be a 13-megapixel selfie camera with a 3D biometric sensor that will be offering gestures-based navigation and facial recognition.
For authentication, the device will be featuring an in-screen optical fingerprint sensor and is said to be backed by a 4,400mAh battery with support for 65W fast wired charging.
Besides this, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ is suggested to include a modified camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and an 8megapixel 10x optical zoom and a 3D depth sensor.
Moreover, ahead of the launch, Huawei Mate 40 Pro was listed upon the Amazon Germany website that accidentally revealed the price of the upcoming smartphone. As per the retail giant listing, the device will cost €1,200.
