As India is currently undergoing a 21-day lockdown due to COVID-19 outbreak, telecom operators across the country are offering exciting plans to make life of majority of workforce staying indoors easy. People working from home could end up using their daily mobile data limit. In order to cater the problem of limited mobile data, telecos like Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone have come up with new recharge or top-up plans to increase the data limit for prepaid users.
Reliance Jio has come out with a “Corona Harega, India Jeetega” campaign, where the company has asked people to “Stay Safe, Stay Connected and Stay Productive”. According to the company, “Keeping in mind the lockdown due to COVID-19, we, at Jio, want to ensure that everyone stays connected. For this period Jio is providing basic JioFiber broadband connectivity (10 Mbps) for your home, wherever geographically feasible, without any service charges.” It has also doubled the data for all JioFiber users.

Meanwhile, JioCinema has shared lists of Indian movies in categories like Comedy, Romance, Action, Drama and Horror on its Facebook homepage for entertaining people staying indoors to remain safe from COVID-19 pandemic.
Now let’s see what role Airtel is playing to ease life of its users. The telecom operator has introduced an “Airtel Thanks App” that manages all services as it has reduced staff at its centre. Airtel has urged its users to use app in order to avoid extra waiting time. The company has shared the following steps to help you keep your phone clean:
- Remove phone case and power it down
- Polish up with a microfiber cloth
- Gently, but thoroughly, wipe it with a sanitised cloth, avoiding ports
- Air dry for up to 5 minute and it’s done!
The same steps can be followed to sanitise your phone case as well.
Airtel has also urged prepaid users to recharge their or their loved ones phone using Airtel Thanks app while staying at home. Those who are working from home owing to COVID-19 can get unlimited data @1Gbps with Airtel Xstream Fiber.
Airtel has also come up with Postpaid Plans starting at Rs 499, wherein customers can get free SIM delivery at their doorsteps. According to the official data, 42,142 postpaid connections have been purchased online in the last 7 days. Under this plan, one gets unlimited calls, 72GB data and access to Amazon Prime. The Rs 249 plan for 28 days provides unlimited calling across India along with 1.5GB data per day as well as Airtel Thanks benefits.
Airtel has also enabled FREE access to thousands of titles on its e-books platform – Juggernaut Books (formerly known as Airtel Books) for all its customers by simply downloading the app (Android/iOS) on their smartphones. As part of its content portfolio, Airtel also offers over 10,000 movies and shows plus LIVE TV to its customers on Airtel Xstream app and over 4 million songs and curated music on Wynk Music. On its official Facebook page, Airtel India has asked people not to forget sanitising their handsets while washing their hands to stay safe from COVID-19 virus.

According to the telecom operator official Facebook page, “While the nation is on lockdown, we are ensuring that you stay connected to everything you love doing online; whether it’s work, study, exercise or even bank. Vodafone also announced that its “Telecom Network Engineers” and “Customer Service Executives” are tirelessly working round the clock to make its users stay connected, no matter where they are.
Vodafone has launched Rs 249 double data offer for limited period under which one gets 1.5GB data along with an additional 1.5GB data per day as well as unlimited talk time for a validity of 28 days. Vodafone also provides Rs 399 and Rs 599 double data offers that also provide 1.5GB data along with an additional 1.5GB data per day as well as unlimited talk time for a validity of 56 days and 84 days, respectively.
