Instagram is introducing a slew of new messaging features for improved user experience on its platform. The social media app owned by meta has announced the ability to share music previews, send a message silently, see who’s online to chat with, and more. These new features are available in select countries, with plans to expand globally.
As a part of the announcement, the photo-sharing app has launched seven new messaging features on Instagram today. This announcement is part of our ongoing efforts to improve how you communicate with and share information with your closest friends.
While announcing the features Instagram stated, “Today, we’re introducing seven new messaging features to Instagram. As we announced at the end of last year, we’re making more investments in messaging to help you connect with your closest friends in more fun and seamless ways.”
The photo and video sharing platform now allows users to reply to messages while browsing, as well as send messages silently. You can now respond without having to navigate to your inbox and risk losing your place. This new feature makes chatting on the app even easier and more convenient.
Instagram has also made resharing more easier now. You can easily reshare posts to your closest friends by tapping and holding the share button. To see who’s online, at the top of your inbox, you can see who’s available to chat right now, which can help you find unexpected ways to connect with friends.
In addition to this Instagram has also added the ability to customise messaging threads. You can now share a 30-second preview of that song you can’t get out of your head, and your friends can listen directly from the chat window, thanks to integrations with Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify coming soon.
Instagram users can now add “@silent” to their messages to send messages without waking up their friends late at night or when they’re busy. You can now communicate without fear of sending unwanted notifications. The @silent shortcut command was first introduced to Facebook Messenger recently. In order to make your conversations feel more personal, try the new lo-fi chat theme.
Users on Instagram can also now try one of Messenger’s most popular group chat features on Instagram, allowing you to make a poll right in your group chat.
